Hi there
Just wondering if anyone else has had this same difficulty.
I joined Wingspan bank and tried to link them to my Pay Pal acct. since I will need to replace my X.com account due to their closure. It didn't seem to be working so I called Pay Pal' cust. service to find out what was wrong. The guy asked me if they were FDIC, which they are. Then he asked me if they accepted ACH (Automated Clearinghouse deposits--such as Pay Pal).
Well, I wasn't sure about that one,, but figured they should since they *are* an online bank. So then I called Wingspan to inquire, and the sweet young lady had to put me on hold to ask her supervisor. She then cluelessly said, "Uh, yeah, we accept "The Pay Pal", perhaps you entered in the routing number incorrectly or something." OK. "The Pay Pal" and the way it was said led me to believe that she was totally devoid of knowledge of this service. HMMMM....
I rechecked the routing # and no problem, so I then decided to type in my new USABancShares acct. to see if that would work, and it did! So great! I got that acct. just in case a situation happened just like this one. With X.com closing so soon, I don't have time to spare for errors.
I called Pay Pal again and they told me that the Wingspan acct. was not allowable for some reason, but USA B.S. was fine. I also called USA and asked them about Pay Pal and they knew right away about it and said yes, they were compatible.
So anyway, to conclude this mini-novel, I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience, and if so, do you know why it is not compatible to link with Pay Pal? I know they are promoting their own online payment system, which is similar, so maybe they don't want the competition?? Just curious! Thanks
I would think several times again before giving paypal any information about my other accounts. It's really none of their business.
Paypal has a reputation of not really knowing what the heck they are doing. Several people have reported that their accounts were somewhat arbitrarily 'frozen' due to "suspected credit card fraud". When the person calls paypal- well you get the idea with how helpful and knowledgable they were with your problem....
If you give them your regular checking info.....you might just one day find that that account has been screwed with also.
With their current level of performance in mind, I just wouldn't trust them with that info.
