Hi All!
Thanks for all the great info on here from everyone! I always know I can get great answers to my questions. So thanks in advance!

Now that eBay is getting our these emails to us what do you do with them?

1)Daily Status Reports
2)Listing Confirmation
3)End of Auction Successful
4)End of Auction Unsuccessful
5)Bid Confirmation

Do you save these?
Do you print these?
Do you delete these?

I've been saving most of them - but I'm not sure I want to or need to anymore.
What do you think?

I delete them as soon as they show up in my mailbox.

I set my eBay options to not even receive any of those on your list. The only thing I allow them to send is the invoice. Keeps a lot of the noise in my inbox quieter.

Maybe this is a good thread to ask what is really necessary to save by printing. I save in Outlook Express Folders, Confirmation Emails in an 'EBAY Selling' folder and any Successful Sale in 'EBAY Sold'
Also print just the Sold ones and write
on it the dates for 'payment rec'd..when item is mailed and when all feedback is done.
Is that enough proof saved for an auction???
I also print invoice monthly. Dana71

Thanks for any repy.

I always kind of thought it was important to have the 'End of Auction Notice from eBay' as proof of who the actual winner was in case there was a descrepency, but I guess maybe I can set my preferences to not receive that one too.

I'm glad this topic was brought up.

Set your options (personal preferences page) so you don't get what you don't want:

1)Daily Status Reports (don't need)
2)Listing Confirmation (don't need)

3)End of Auction Successful (you can't opt out of this, and should KEEP THIS ... it has the text of the auction, and the winning bidder. I move them to an archive after the stuff is shipped, but it's my reminder that I have an outstanding payment due.)

4)End of Auction Unsuccessful (don't need)
5)Bid Confirmation (don't need)

Just to add a note...to change your eBay email options go to site map and go to the middle column and go to:
Change my notification preferences
That's all you have to do!

If you are running a business, you probably should be keeping all of the notifications for tax purposes.

I just direct them into separate folders and then burn them onto CDs on a monthly basis.

That way, if the taxman ever comes knocking, I can hand them a pile of electronic proof of sales.

Wouldn't keeping a printout of your ebay account accomplish the same thing? I'm assuming, of course, that you keep a spreadsheet besides (which you'd have to do to tally all your expenses including cost of inventory).

Would anyone have the time to tell me if I have all the bases covered with my bookkeeping...I can't do spreadsheets at this time and just can't find the time to set it up and maintain it. My budget has me selling millions of affordable little items rather than fewer higher priced ticket items. Thanks in advance.

I keep the following for tax purposes:

1. Every 30 days I go into My eBay and print out my closed auctions. This tells me what items sold and didn't sell and what the selling price was.

2. I print my eBay invoice for their fees.

3. I keep all my receipts for merchandise, AOL fees, PayPal fees, business expences re office supplies and repairs.

4. I keep all my banking statements and credit card statements to tally deposits and miscellaneous expences. (I always earmark what is business and what is personal.)

5. I keep all my post office receipts.

6. I keep most of the paperwork that is mailed to me with payments verifying addresses, etc.

Am I missing anything?

Gratefully,
Mallary
