Ok Paypal charges sellers for transactions. OK, but why should I pay Paypal 1.9% of shipping cost ????? I can understand they have to charge a 1.9% charge for transactions, but I do not make any money on shipping so why should they take 1.9% of that to !!!!

Because they are charging for the service of transferring money. The shipping charge was also transferred to your account. Your level of profit doesn't come into play, nor should it.

When did PayPal start charging sellers? I've heard that they charge 3%. Your posts above say 1.9%. I went to their website and cannot find anything that says they charge for this service. I see that they charge 3.5% if you have your money directly sent into your bank account on a nightly basis. I just have a regular PayPal account, not a Premier or Business account.

PayPal only charges users of their Premier and business accounts. Casual users who do not need the extra services these accounts provide are still 100% free.

Also, casual users are defined as those who received less than $500 in credit card payments every six months.

Well, I no longer accept paypal. BUT I will say that I have a merchant account, and it is no different. They take their percentage from the total amount charged. It is standard. So, charging the 1.9% including the shipping is not unusual.
