Just wanted to see how some of you would handle this. We have someone emailing us asking us to contact them because they want to make an offer on some of the items we have up for auction? I was going to email them back and tell them -- then go place a bid, but then I thought that would appear rude--what are some of your thoughts on handling this?

that is exactly what we say. bid on the item and if you're not outbid, then it's yours. if you don't want to bid on the item, then don't.
rarely have we ended an auction for someone because they asked us to.
on one item we have up now, a guy offered us about $25. we thought it was an ok offer, but my hubby didn't want to take a chance. that item is now over $50.
we do the math!

I have had three requests to purchase an item currently on auction. I tell them to please feel free to bid and thank them for the inquiry. One person wanted to know if he could purchase if item did not sell..of course, please feel free to bid or contact me after auction, if item does not sell. Just so you know...When someone asks about a reserve, which I do use in some items I just will not give away, I always tell them the reserve. Why not? It tells them the amount I will take for the item, no more, no less. We are selling personal items, downsizing for retirement, I know what I have in them and what they are worth on the market. Going to try the BidNow to see how that goes, one high end and one low end item. ..jeannie
