Havin' been sellin' on eBay for over 2 years, I've had my share of the off-the-wall bidding wars that a seller's dreams are made of....But in the past 6 months or so, I've grown accustom to the slow & steady, one bid, maybe two or three if your lucky sales...Imagine my surprize when I checked my auctions tonight, only to find two bidders engaged in battle on one of MY items!....And amazingly there are 6 more days to go!...Ahhhhhh....Feels like the old days!!!...&...I LIKE IT!

Oh, to you naysayers out there, I checked...these bidders have paid big bucks before for this type of item!....

My first couple of BIN sales brought back the thrill too. They were big sales. For a little while every time I opened my browser there was a nice surprise.

Just like opening a box of crackerjacks.

Rancher, That is so great! I long to have one end like that again. Remember the good old days when you could put up a monkey dressed like Marilyn Monroe and you would get bid after bid after bid.Nothing closed without multiple bids. I really miss those days.

Had a 7 day one last week where 2 of them got into a war on day 3. I thought it was probably all over but they came back & slugged it out again up until closing. Even taught my hubby the happy dance.

Woo-hoo!

I, myself, am "happy dancing" right now over an item I bought for a quarter that is currently up over $30.00 with 3 days to go and a starting bid under $9. I keep looking at it, wondering what the heck, double-checking to make sure I didn't list it wrong or something.

Same here... Things have been rather slow, but then I sold a CD for $137.

That one sale makes up for all the other ho-hum auctions!

My stuff doesn't bring in the big bucks. I try to keep the opening bid as modest as possible, just enought to make a small profit. And I'm constantly surprised by the fact that some of my things get more than 1 bid. Sometimes I sell things for which I had no idea that there actually was a market. If my cash outlay is small enough, I'll try almost any weird thing. Especially if it's easy to wrap.

The ones we shake our heads over in amazement are those items that don't sell the first time, don't sell the second time (price was lowered) - and then sell for 5-10 times the original price on the third go-round.

I too have been selling for a while and I have been happy with making a "little" money for me and my children with the 1 to 2 bids per auction....but recently WOW! Have the Holiday Dollars started already!

Oh who cares - let's just let the money fly! I LOVE IT!

Sooooo glad to see that the "happy dance" is STILL bein performed (albeit less often, but still with the same enthusiasm!)....

rawbunzel....Oh, yeah I remember....I remember buying items only to have friends & family comment "who the heck would buy that?"...And of course my standard response "eBayers...they'll buy anything!"....Hang in there you'll be dancin' happy before the season's over!!!

I'm having a good morning too. I bought a huge bag of wool yarn (beautiful stuff) for under 5 dollars at an estate sale, took out 2/3 of it (for my stash---black, brown and blue handspun, handdyed skeins) and put up the l/3 of the yarn that was in a color/brand I couldn't use.....I was VERY surprised to see it go near $30!!! I gave the lady free shipping because I feel a bit guilty, but it's lovely yarn and I am sure she will like it. And I and doing the happy dance too!

Happy for you all!! That's great! I hope things will start booming for everyone!

I look at my auctions and they seem to be standing still....until the last few minutes.
I'm not complaining, but I do remember when you put your items up for bid, people would actually bid on an item right away. I don't see much of that any more.

I am completely mystified. I had my first "hot" item with 32 bids last week & was well pleased with my ending price on that one item.

I was disappointed with the results on all my other auctions though. Most of them I started at $1 and some didn't even get any bids at all! I think part of that was due to a random ebay outage, but still, I am really hesitant to relist anything. Then again, it's now or never...holiday shoppers & "last chance" before the postal increase...what to do, what to do...

Congratulations! I've been doing the happy dance too! I've been selling for over two years and things have been slow but seem to be picking up a bit lately. I love the items you can pick up for small amounts of money and sell for prices that amaze my husband.

This is the first time I have posted here and just want to let everyone know how much I love reading the questions and everyone's responses. I must say it's refreshing to hear some honest feedback and insight.

Happy Holidays!
