Earlier today I had someone email me about an auction I had up for sale. I had a starting bid of $24.95, no bids and there were 4 days left. This guy emails me asking to end the auction early and sell it to him because he really wanted this item and he wanted it FAST. (I get that a lot and I won't end an auction early). Instead, I went to the auction and put a "buy now" price of $60.00 on this auction, hoping it would NOT make him want me to end this auction early, or just pay the high, outrageous price for this item if he wanted it bad enough.
Well, I just received a Billpoint payment for this item for $66.40 (including shipping)!!!
I've never used the buy-it-now option before and never had any intention to, but WOW!! I'm simply amazed. He paid 2 1/2 times my starting bid price!

Wow, way to go! He must have REALLY wanted it. Nice going! If others are asking you about instant purchasing .... maybe you need to tap into that market.

My thought would be ...what was it REALLY worth?

It's something I've sold many of before - and they rarely went for that much. I do know the value.

Way to go. I used the feature for the first time yesterday and had someone "Buy It Now" almost immediately. He had to have been the first one to see the auction when it posted. Only trouble is....now I wonder if I charged enough.....????? Happy Thanksgiving

Vanzy: Wasn't it exciting though? I was blown away! If I put "buy now" on my auctions I will put a really large amount so if they want it fast they will REALLY have to "pay for it"!!

Sound incredible. What are the fees involved with this feature?

Through the holiday season the feature is free. But who knows how much it will cost AFTER the holidays....

I too just sold my first Buy It Now item. I had researched it and priced it accordingly, but now I too am wondering if I priced it too low.
Still, I love the instant gratification! I hope that this feature continues to be free for a while longer.

I use AuctionWatch online, at the website. Can you tell me how to use the buyitnow feature? I have searched and can't find it.
Thanks!

Hi Nancy,
I don't use AW to list anymore so I don't know if they offer it as an option yet. BUT - after you list an item, you can go back and revise it and enter the "buy now" price.

I also would like to know how to add "buy it now" to my listlings from Auction Watch.
Thanks!
