Due to the recent high percentage of NPB I sent the following form letter out to all dutch bidders - what do you think ?

"Dear Bidders-
I am getting ready to close the records on this auction. If you haven't sent
payment yet, contact me as soon as possible because if I do not hear from
you I must soon apply to eBay for a refund of FV fees, and non paying bidder
sanctions will apply. I would much rather complete the transaction than get
a FV fee refund or leave non paying bidder negative feedback.

If I have completed this transaction with you and you have not received
feedback yet, email me with the listing number and let me know and I'll get
right on it.

Hello,
I would switch the paragraphs around.
This way we happy, fast paying customers would not feel like bad dogs.
And the one's who don't pay kinda feel guilty.
Thanks!

Good idea, but I would suggest that most bidders would have no clue what "FV fees" are.

Mentioning negative feedback is probably not a good idea...people get worked up about that. If you do mention it, soften it to something like "or have any reason to leave negative feedback given your good record..."

Reads like a collection form letter to me. My first reaction as a bidder: "You want your money, but you can't even tell (or you're too lazy to check) whether I've paid you yet? Do you know whether you've shipped to me yet? Sheesh - some business."

I understand your intent, but if you're overloaded with NPBs, the least of your problems is how to quickly send out a gazillion dunning letters.

Out of 7 responses to this letter, I've had only 1 that understood it properly i.e., if you've paid, received the item, and have gotten feedback- do nothing.

I'm going to have to change it.

"reamond" - I was just wondering why you have so many NPB's - is it that bad?

NPB is a very recent problem for me after 4 years at eBay. It seemed to start about July and has gotten worse.

"reamond" - sorry, but I just don't think it's your responsibility to teach every buyer eBay's rules.

I think you should state how you want to handle the transaction in your EOA. They can work with you if they prefer something different, but if you have to send more than 2 reminders, I'd do what I felt I had to do and wouldn't worry about neg. feedback, etc.
Just remember, it's up to each person to know the rules of the game - not yours!
