News Flash - Serbia
Serbian Delegation to the UN is rumored to have a motion to introduce
tomorrow
calling on the body to send a large contingent of UN peacekeeping troops
to the
American State of Florida in response to the collapse of democratic
elections in this
province.
"It is in the interests of democratic nations anywhere in the world to
keep the torch of liberty from being extinguished where it is
threatened. Serbian interests extend beyond our hemisphere when we see
the treat of tyranny raise its head against our American
brothers. Serbia will offer a contingent of fully equipped troops to
protect the polling places and insulate the population from threats
and intimidation when attempting to exercise their right to travel and
place their ballots. Partisan bullies will be replaced by
international observers with no vested interest in manipulating the
voting process."
Serbia will call upon its european allies, in particular the Russian
Republic to join in the
peace keeping force. We are drawing contingent plans to insert a
temporary but significant mixed european air force on the Island
of Cuba to provide an air cover if Federal American troops should
threaten to sweep in from the American states of Alabama and
Georgia, pointing out that Cuba is less than 5 minutes flying time from
Florida and the United States already has a significant armor
force positioned at Fort Benning, Georgia. It was pointed out that state
is particularly susceptible to intimidation because a very
large proportion of the population is of advanced age and living in
mobile temporary shelter. Indeed it was widely noted that the social
expense of maintaining this nonproductive population was a major source
of disagreement in the pre election disorder. The
possibility exists that this segment of the population could have their
Social Security entitlements abandoned plunging the State into economic
disorder with
a resulting refugee problem. I mean some of these people would have to
go back to New Jersey. Can you imagine that right now
when the winter season is starting? I understand that navigating the
roads in Florida are a nightmare already without that.
"We will do what is necessary to restore order and withdraw as quickly
as possible.
I don't anticipate any need for us to remain for a lengthy stay,
although there will undoubtedly be some command structure that will
remain in the Miami area and take occasional patrols to Key West and
Disney World until the end of the winter season in Serbia."
