I am totally ignorant about registering a name at netzero and then having it forwarded to Yahoo for email service. Would someone please give me the run down? Thanks.

I know the reverse.
To forward email from a Yahoo address to wherever - sign on to your Yahoo email and click "options" and then "forwarding" and put in the address you want to forward to.
Netzero may or may not offer this feature. If they do, the process is probably pretty much identical.

What purpose does this bifurcated process serve? Why not just register your name at one server, have your email there also and leave it at that? Thanks.

Hi
I have my regular email with my isp.
I also have email with a free service as a backup email.
Lets say I am not home or my computer has a problem.
If I can get onto another computer, I can then go to my free email. And have the email that is at my isp, downloaded into the free email. I can then answer any email that I have too. So my using the options at the free site, I just *saved* myself.
A back up plan is always a good idea.
Just my 2 cents.
