I have been bombarded with bidders requesting that I use PayPal. After all the horror stories I read here I don't want to use any Payment site. What are the advantages? How does it work and what do all you guys suggest?
I've been using PayPal since they opened and had only one problem which was solved. Since then, I've had no problems.
There are quite a few of pay sites on the 'net. One had just opened a short time ago and is already closing its doors. I signed up for it, no one used it, so it's a moot point with me.
Most of them want your credit card info or checking account info. One even wants you to deposit $100 with them as good faith. Ugh!
PayPal has all of my account information, plus credit card info and not once have they
created a problem for me.
I did have a premier account, but closed it. I now just have a personal account because I don't sell high end products anymore.
Whichever one you choose, read the fine print
first.

With the possible exception of Western Union's Moneyzap (only because I assume that Western Union has more experience in the area of fraud) all credit card based payment services have a severe security problem any two-bit thief can use to full advantage very easily. Some of these services act as if they dont even care and just pass the loss on to the seller. For more info, read my pages http://www.ygoodman.com/payments.html

I have been using PayPal for a long time and have no complaints. I wish more people would sign up. If people pay me via PayPal I can ship the same day instead of waiting for payment by the post office.

I have had no problems with Paypal, and my customers love to use them.
The prices for their services are reasonable, and moving money around is fairly simple once you have been verified.
However, their management is lame, often announcing major changes on short notice, changing rules, and their public relations is right up there with the worst I have seen on line. I think it is run by kids, with money from a bank or vc which keeps demanding immediate changes in direction which adversely affects its reputation with its customers. It needs to start planning ahead, and acting like a grown-up.
For all of this, I still use them. There are few alternatives. Just like with selling on eBay. Both are mismanaged and have poor reputations with their primary users (us).
