After the X(cess-fees).com fiasci, I opened a USABancShares.com Energy online checking account 2 weeks ago & have received the following already:

1) FREE first order of checks
2) MASTER CARD debit card & my credit SUCKS!
3) 5% interest on balance with a minimum of $1.00!
4) FREE bill-pay

I'm apprehensive as this seems TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE!

Anybody have experience with them? Comments please. THANKS!

Tom

Your credit cannot be that bad to get a debit card, most banks have a minimum credit score rating you must have in order to qaulify for one.

I am looking for a new bank account also, my bank has a new policy; all deposits, including money orders, are held for 10 days before they are posted to your account. Before I would take in a stack and cash them or deposit them with no problem.

WEll you know what they say if it sound to good to be true it probablly is.

When I got the notice x.com was closeing I wanted a sure thing for a bank account one that wont run out on me so I walked in to our local bank and set up free online checking no min balance.

I didn't get free checks but I got the debit card and free checking with a bank thats been in business over 100 years.

They allow unlimited direct deposits wire tranfers and transaction free. and I signed some papers and have been assured no matter what paypal or other third party companys may think they will not be allowed to withdrawal money from this account inless I actually write them a check and Mail it to them.

Actually haveing bad credit dont hurt your chance all that much for getting a debit cards with some banks.

If you have held a checking and or saveing account at one bank for years and have had no real trouble bounceing checks all the time they will issue you a card no problem.

Another way is if you go to a new local bank and offer to have your paycheck direct deposited in to the bank weekly biweekly how ever you get paid or your getting goverment money like SS direct deposited the law requires them to offer you a debit card now in most states.

Another words its up to the bank if you have proven your going to be around and have been useing there bank or if you garentee money directly into the account or you have loans at the bank in good standing you will have little trouble.

Haveing bad credit dont mean what it use to you can have bad credit and if your willing to pay the price you can buy a car house and have a credit card takes time and will cost you more in interest.
might cost someone with bad credit $100 a year fee for a cridit card but if they pay this bill regularly their credit limit will incress and after a fee years the fees will drop down as your credit rateing is repaired.

I've got a vBank account (usabancshares.com) and they do offer the services and interest rate they advertise. Those terms aren't etched in stone. I'd imagine at some point minimum balances higher than $1.00 will be required via a maintenance fee and they'll lower the ATM rebates to be more in line with other online banks. Bascially they are trying to get new accounts and at some point in the future they will discourage those accounts that cost more than they are worth.

Actually there are a lot of internet banks which offer similar deals. In order for internet banks to get market share away from brick and mortar banks they have to offer these kinds of deals (brick and mortar banks offer significant convenience and are very well established). For discussion of various internet banks try http://www.gomez.com and http://www.fool.com (the online banking discussion board). I have an account at USBancShares and it works OK.
