Hi everyone
I might be having a nightmare of a problem with a seller. I am one myself. I bid on a dutch auction for a popular item. I check the auction again several days after the auction ended to find out that the seller is now NARU'd. I emailed the seller to notify them that I will NOT pay for the item because of this. As of this writing, they are still not registered, and they are demanding payment. This is the FIRST time that I have received an email from them, and that was 5 days after the auction ended!!!!. I understand for the Turkey holiday, but this user went NARU before the holiday. (telling from the feedback dates only)
What would anyone else do in a situation like this?

Ouch! Tough one...
If user remains NARU, then you have no fear of a NEG..But why not ask Time Sensitive Ebay dpt. That is rather unusual a situation! Good luck! Let us know, please...

I am curious. Do you have to be a registered member of ebay to leave feedback?

Good question tegan...It would make sense (except for Ebay, perhaps), that a NARU user's listing should be closed down and all bids nullified...non?

This may be unpopular, but if the auction was not ended by ebay, and the seller was still a registered user when it ended...as long as they have not received a buncha negs prior to being NARU'd, I would follow through.
With ebay, they could be NARU'd for a million and one reasons. Doesn't make em' a crook.

There is no reason to ever send money to a seller who recently went NARU.
Something is wrong, way wrong.
EBay is telling you, in effect, not to complete the transaction.
NARU's can't do anything at all on ebay, except maybe view pages.

With ebay, they could be NARU'd for a million and one reasons
and every single one of them has to do with misbehavior.

I emailed timesensitive so we shall see what they have to say. Kind of a unique situation I would think. I cannot know for sure when they went NARU I can only speculate from the dates left on their feedback. I will keep you all informed of what timesensitive says.
Thanks for your input

I would not be comfortable paying a NARU'd seller. What if they have been NARU'd for not sending buyers their widgets?
On the other hand, I have a slow paying bidder who just went NARU'd. If her payment arrives by the end of the week, should I follow through on the sale? Can you leave feedback for a NARU'd user? I did file a NPB form on this buyer, obviously I wasn't the only one. Her feedback is 259 btw.

harrison72...Thanks...Will look forward to answer...
Meya..I would also be hesitant! As you said, they might be NARU'd because of not sending merchandise! Ouch!
I never had that happen, but my gut-feeling would be to not continue with transaction..strictly an emotional thingy.

I had a seller name NARUed for 10 days when Ebay lost my check... I sent them proof of cashing it. When I came out of NARU I negged and NPBd the heck out of about 15 buyers who felt they didnt have to complete a sale.... That was more fun than I had all week.
So beware..... it may be a wrongful NARU

The official eBay stance on this subject: Basically...do what you want...take the consequences if there are any....
I prefer to NOT deal with them. I would not expect anyone to send me money if I was NARU'd.

Thank you for writing with your questions. We are always happy to help!
I am sorry that you have been having trouble with this seller.
Unfortunately I do not have their ID so I could not tell you how long
they are suspended for, whether it is thirty days for forever. Since
this person has been unregistered, you have the option of finishing this
transaction or not. The transaction would be unofficial to eBay however,
and you would not be able to leave feedback for eachother because of it
being unofficial.
If this unregistered seller gets out of hand, please let us know, but be
careful because you can leave feedback for someone for up to ninety
days, so if he is only suspended for thirty, then he can come back and
leave you negative feedback. This is something to be cautious of.
If you have any further questions, please visit our help pages. You
will receive instant help. If you were still unable to find the answer
you were looking for, feel free to contact us. In the help pages, there
are direct links to customer support so that you will be able to send us
your question directly from there!
Thanks again for writing, and thank you for using eBay!!

Thanks, Harrison...
Too bad one has to be "bullied" into finishing a transaction with a NARU'd person.
In the case where Ebay is at fault for NARU'ing user, user should not take revenge on bidders, who had NO CLUE as to why user was NARU'd in the first place.

"and every single one of them has to do with misbehavior."
LMAO...
Been on ebay long SG52?
I was once suspended for "Incorrect registered user information", and 113 auctions cancelled, and over 300 bidders notified, due to some jerk who reported my phone number as "bogus".
The problem was, the number was right, and it was the area code that incorect, since we went through an area code change here then.
Never thought about about changing on my profile. Didn't even dawn on me.
The joker was not even a bidder on my auction, but someone that wanted to "ask me a question before bidding". Suppose he never heard of e-mail?
I guess I was just a rebel without a clue, huh?

Last week I discovered that a seller I was buying from had been Naru'd. I was pretty upset because I had sent him $575 and did not have a clue about why he was Naru'd. Fortunately, the transaction was successfully completed and there was no problem with the merchandise.
I was somewhat upset with eBay because they never notified any of the bidders. Plus, since the seller was Naru'd, his contact information was unavailable.

I bought a piece of dinnerware recently from a seller with close to 1000FB and only a couple of very old negs. Item was shipped quickly and was well packaged. Communications were good.
When I tried to leave FB I discovered seller had been NARU'ed.
Don't know if NARU was justified but the seller sure seemed OK to me.

I seem to remember some people being NARU'd for nothing more than posting on one of eBay's boards at an inopportune time, but I suppose I could be wrong...

I'm sure somebody will correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought registered users could unregister for whatever reason and their ID would appear as NARU, even though they had done nothing wrong.
Not that this is real common, but I don't think that misbehavior is the ONLY reason an ID will be NARUed.

Sonsie: You are correct. Quite often the user id will appear as "suspended".
I dealt with a seller once that had over 500 positives and 1 negative from a guy that had 14 negatives from her and other sellers.
I won an item and when I was looking back over the auction before paying, I noticed that she was NARU. I contacted her and asked what was going on. She sent me an email, with headers, from ebay that was a response to her request to have her registration cancled for a few months. Ebay responded that it had been done and told her to let her know when she wanted her registration reinstated. However her user id showed that she had been suspended. I told her this and she was pretty angry. I checked back a few days later and her id no longer showed "suspended", just NARU.
I completed the transaction with no problems. She is back on Ebay selling and now has over 900 feedback with the 1 negative I mentioned earlier.
Sellers can also be NARU'ed for non-payment. That is lifted once the payment is made.

I know of several people who were NARU'ed without a real reason. All were misunderstandings on eBay's part, and all of them were reinstated right away.
The reasons were silly ... reports of phony contact information by vengeful non-paying bidders, Safe Harbor misunderstanding that an e-mailed complaint was about the person the e-mail was from, rather than about someone else (like someone would complain about themself???), and other similar types of things.
There's lots of reasons a person can be NARU'ed ... not all of them are because the person did something wrong. Mistakes happen.
Why not e-mail the seller and ask what's going on, especially if their feedback is good?
