If an item is lost in the mail whose LEGAL responsibility is it? Unless the package is insured, is it not the buyer's responsibility?

If the buyer claims fraud due to a package lost in the mail, what recourse do they have?

The post office is required to give you a receipt when you ship packages. On this receipt, there is a record of what zip code on what date the item was shipped.

You can request a tracer be put on a package. If you think the buyer is tryiing to scam you, the scam usually folds when post authorities are brought in to "investigate".

Insist on insurance for large ticket items. Pay it yourself if you have to. I make insurance mandatory in my listing on breakable and higher priced items.
