Bummer Day.

I am -very proudly- three positive feedbacks away from my Purple Star (500 positives). And today I had to go back to work because of a low amount of bids the past three months. It has been a roller coaster, good weeks and bad. However, the bad have been bad enough to go kicking and screaming back to work. Sigh.

The last year I have done well and have been able to take care of my 83yo Mom, who has had health problems. Double sigh. However, Chrysler will be ecstatic when I catch up on my Jeep payments.

I am not quitting eBay, I just have to prioritize my time.

Whew, thanks! I just had to whine for awhile. All done, feel better. Anyone else having to make the same dizzying decisions???

Do not dispair catryan....At least your won't go to work & find the "site unavailable"....&...at the of the pay period, chances are pretty darn good that your employer won't be a DEADBEAT payer!....You'll still have eBay, but in comparison to alot of us, you will actually have $$$!....

Join the crowd. If you do a search for a thread started by imabrit a couple of weeks ago, you'll see you're not alone.

Yup that me,start the new job Monday. But still doing ebaY as a hobby.I may work on selling higher priced items that give a better return for the effort.

Figured I would do it before I got into the cannot make payments category.Never been there yet and never hope too.

I think I can still make ebaY if I wanted to.But the word is wanted too.I am bored with it.Not much fun anymore.

Oh well.

Just you are not alone and I know of a number of others who have done the same.

what makes me sader is that so many of us have been here for along time...we have survived when other 'get rich quick' or 'you don't have to do alot to sell on the internet' ... have come and gone....it has been a great ride

i wish my case was that simple or open and shut...i..i am unable to do my profession anymore cause the dr wont let me....i know i am not alone...but work for me now is going to be working at mcdonalds or sitting for children ...and i know i will never make the bucks i once did...so long and good luck

I had to pick up another show this month as my bids are so down since eBay eliminated the Jewelry cat I used to list in. They have no idea how much they have hurt the people who have supported them.I guess unless you are a big wholesaler with 1000's of eedbacks, they don't care!

I am not listing anything. Lately the bids are down and the deadbeats up. Ebay unresponsive.

My regular job just gave me a decent raise so I will work there.

If anyone is in healthcare, most hospitals are offering an incentive plan this winter just to maintain critical staffing levels. A few extra shifts will exceed money made on ebay without the hassle.

Thanks to everyone, I am overwhelmed at your kindness. I guess I did not realize how rough it was going for everyone else too.

Since you mentioned it, I am in the healthcare field - and both hospitals in my small town are in need of what I do. I was even able to bargain with my pay scale. It will only take a couple shifts a week to be able to pay bills. I am very thankful that I have the degree and skills to be able to go back to work for decent money!

It is nice to be needed - they ran me through two interviews, all the paperwork, my physical, and a tour all in about two hours today so I can start Monday.

So far your responses have made me appreciate this more! Thanks! So maybe Monday I will only go off to work kicking and not screaming so much!

Good Luck to All of You in the Same Position!

The thought has entered my head too. Fortunately we're entering a good sales period so I can delay the inevitable, or at least buy time until I work through an inventory changeover, and see if it is successful. I have to be extremely desperate before I renter the workforce though. I won't give up on ebay that easily.

I retired and am trying ebay parttime but I have to agree that the buyers are not there, well at least the ones that answer your EOA and send payment. I find men that bid are the best buyers. I had auctions end last week, mostly males and they paid me by PayPal. It doesn't give you a lot of time to get their item ready but it is instant. I try and ship same day or next but if buyers continue to pay through PayPal I can get some out but not all of them. I wish all of you who are going back to work good luck and hope someday ebay or whatever is on the horizon will come back. I was in healthcare 45 years (started young) with good pay, then I retired and can't go back so I try and supplement with ebay. We are getting a casino in town next year so maybe I will try and work a couple of night shifts just for pocket change.
