I have a bidder who has been high bidder on one of my auctions for 5 days. The auction is set to close today, and then last night they retract their high bid, with the explanation "wrong"! The person has zero feedback, only bid retractions! 2 bid retractions this week, 4 this month, and 4 in the past 6 months. Isn't that weird? What do you think this bidder is trying to accomplish?

Maybe they are just flaky, but you could report them to eBay and they will get a warning. Being new, they probably think it's OK to retract bids. If they continue with the habit they will get the boot.

I have noticed a rise in bid retractions to, usually the bidder doesn't read the whole auction, bids, THEN reads the auction, and realize thats this type A point 1 widget is really a type B point 2 widget.

Well, I've reported them to Ebay. They have been on Ebay since June, and have done nothing but retract bids. Like I said, what makes it so annoying is that they were the high bidder for 5 full days.

I think telling them to never bid on your auctions again is cutting away a potential customer. Be glad he realized his/her mistake on the auction BEFORE it ended, or you would of ended up with a deadbeat buyer or an unneeded refund.
And just because he didn't want one of your items this time doesn't mean he forever hates your items. Remember, bids and sales are low, you need all you can get.
And how exactly would I word a complaint to SafeHarbor about bidders leaving false bid retract comments and violation of "bidding contract"?
