Anyone else experiencing delayed delivery of your Priority mail packages? I fielded 5 emails today with customers inquiring about the status of their delivery. It's a bit unusual, as I ship all orders within 24 hours or receipt of payment. Most buyers rave about our delivery speed. Can't seem to figure it out... Do you think I'm experiencing impatient Holiday buyers or a a bogged down Postal system? Your thoughts, please.

People are packing better so it takes longer to crush and mutilate packages marked fragile.
Sorry...couldn't help myself...I have no idea what I am doing out of bed.

I too have had several e-mails regarding no delivery on packages which should have already arrived. When I inquired at the Post Office today, they told me they are experiencing some delays (whatever that means) and that delivery is taking a couple of days longer than usual. If it is this slow now, I am concerned that delivery will slow to a crawl the closer we get to Christmas.

Just returned from the post office, the head postal guy said it was currently taking priority packages 3-4 days. I am going to start posting that on my auctions and my EOA notices.

I have one that has been floating around since 11/7, still no sign of it. So much for delivery confirmation. It keeps confirming where it left from. WHERE DID IT GO TO????

I mailed one Priority package on 11/17, and another on 11/21. Both took 9 business days (!) to reach their destinations. You better believe I had the "Where's my stuff?!!" emails from both buyers. One package was going from PA to NE, and the other was going from PA to WI, so it wasn't even all the way across the country, which typically takes longer. Yikes! I hope things don't bog down even further for Christmas!

I just got a box I mailed out a month ago back. It was mutilated. It was in a brand new priority box and it was smashed to smithereens I wish I could post you all a picture here. I had clear tape over my sellers address and the tape was destroyed and her address and the only address thank god that was still ledgable was my return address. This box was ripped open retaped and crushed. It was trying to go from MD to HI. I had to refund the seller who luckily believed me that I actually sent out her package. I sent her a picture today of the box. lol

I read in the Wall Street Journal last month that the USPS had cancelled, by mutual agreement, a contract with one of the large delivery companies (and I don't remember whether it was DHL or who) that called for that contractor to do much of the regional hauling of Priority and Express Mail. The company had apparently seriously underbid the contract and was losing money at a terrific rate. USPS let them out of it. I thought at the time I read that story (early November) that this was the wrong time of year to allow this. From the erratic delivery I have seen with Priority Mail the last three weeks, I think I was right.
