Hello to all of you fellow booksellers
out there! All is not right in my bookseller
world right now. We recently moved from Milwaukee, Wisconin to southwestern Virginia.
In Milwaukee, we had this one Goodwill store
that had a fantastic book selection where I
would get 90% of my inventory. Since moving,
I have visited almost all of the thrift stores in my area and have found very few sellable books. I'm now considering other
sources for finding books short of opening a
physical bookstore. It's the wrong time of
year for yard/rummage sales and there don't seem to be any library sales in this area. I've considering advertising in one of those
trader newspapers that I purchase books. Has anyone tried this? Any other suggestions? Thanks!

My experience is the smaller and more rural a community is the lower the book quality and quantity is. It also has something to do with education level, though, as I've found good books in small towns, college towns that is.
I originally lived in Nashville and was dealing in books out of an antique mall there. Some good books, but NOTHING like I found when I eventually moved to the DC suburbs. People here read, and they read good books. I lived in a small town in Mo. where the main stock at books sales the library had were Readers Digest condensed books and Harlequin romances. Go figure.

Buy books on Ebay!
Before you laugh, keep in mind that there have been sellers here who've posted that they've successfully done so. I haven't tried it with books (I do sell a lot of books but mostly ones I've bought, read, & want to get rid of.) but I do buy for resale in other categories on Ebay quite often. I don't see why it wouldn't work for books too...
