Anyone know if there is a Billpoint policy regarding this? I have gotten quite a few requests, asking me to ship an item to a different address from the billing address. I know some folks will do this to keep holiday gifts a secret, but it still makes me a little uneasy...

Hi Reddeer --
Thanks! I did see that before, but since it is under the "International Fraud" section, I was a little reluctant to rely on that. But I can't see how it would be any different for US buyers.
It's tricky because I have quite a few buyer's asking me to do this, so my instincts are a bit whacked. They are probably all legitimate requests, but when the item is a couple hundred dollars, I feel like I can't take any chances...
Oh well, like you would say, this is the life of an online auction seller.

Julesy ...... Do you use the Instant Purchase options on your auctions?
I don't, and one of the reasons is I like to get the name & addy from the high bidders first hand, then I can cross check it with the CC info they have on file. Not that a smart crook can't get around that minor detail, but it's my first line of defense.
When it comes to accepting CC's online, the burden is entirely on the seller, and Billpoint won't didley do da if you run into a snag down the road.
Then again, if the high bidders have mega feedback, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it, but I would ask them why the shipping address doesn't match up with their Billpoint info.
Just tell them you wanted to make sure it went to the correct addy.
And yes, such is the life of an online auction seller.
