I can't seem to get a clear close-up shot with this camera. I have changed all the settings(now set on 1280 x 960 file size, fine quality, and hard sharpness)but the pics are still slightly fuzzy. Doesn't matter whether I use flash or not pics are still the same. Anyone using this camera get clear close-up shots??? If so how???

The specs from their web site say:

Focus distance Normal: 70 cm/2.3 ft. to infinity
Macro: 10 cm/4.0 in.

There must be a macro mode, are you setting it correctly? For close ups, using a tripod can really make a difference as well. 10cm is about 4 inches, the normal mode must be about 28 inches.

I just got the Fuji 1300----does the 1200 have a Macro switch? (On mine there's a little switch--the mountains icon is the regular setting & the flower is for macro.)

Here's the thread that made me buy a Fuji---thedewey's pics are amazing!

It does have the flower/mountain switch. I'll try putting it on the flower and see what happens.
I'll let know if it helps!!!
Thanks, zkatt

Hi,

Yep, it has to be set in macro mode (the flower) to take close-up shots.

Something else that helps me is to rest the camera on something solid while taking the picture (assuming you don't have a tripod, which I don't). It's hard for me to hold the camera perfectly still, so I use a book or even my desk to make sure the camera is steady.

If you take photos at night or if there's not a lot of natural light available, try putting the whiteness adjuster in "incandescent" mode (assuming you use regular light bulbs where you take your photos). The colors come out much more true. There are also several adjustments for fluorescent lighting as well, although I haven't tried them.

Edited for clarity
