After weeks of selling just about everything I had on ebay things have been come to a screeching halt - I'm not even getting minimum bids. Is everyone too busy with Christmas to buy? How is everyone else doing? I've been selling since April so this is my first Holiday season. Thank you.

I've been selling on eBay for 3 years (started right after Christmas in '97). Things seem abysmally slooooooow right now.
Stuff that used to get bids right away is just sitting there. Not a good sign!!!

My sales at eBay have been down all year.We also have a retail store and are having our worst year. Most retailers and sales reps I talk to say the same thing.I guess its time to think about next year...this one is in the dumper for sure.

PS.
I have a friend who is a big importer and he is having an awesome year...go figure.

Same problem. I was so excited about things picking up for Christmas but, instead, it's gone the other way. For two weeks, now, I've had one bid out of a possible 25. It kills me to see my seller list with ALL RED!

Seriously, do you know of other sites where the bidders might have gone? I'm looking at user's names who have previously been my competition (bidderwise) and they're all blank. Surely, they didn't all run out of money or the desire for that one better collectible....

It's almost as if people have found another site to go to. I wish I knew where it was. Maybe it would explain what has happened with the lack of bidding.

Not sure where they are at.I have always heard that an election year is shaky and this one is a real pain, whatever side your on.The stock market has been a total mess also.If you add it all we may as well look for a piece of rope and a big oak tree.I try to start my auctions at a dollar and am getting hammered.I may have to reconsider my policy....maybe next year!

I've experienced spotting bidding the last two weeks. It was busy during and after the Thanksgiving Holiday, but has been a bit soft the last 7 or so days. Not horrible, just a bit soft. My guess is that, despite Wall street estimates, retail sales are going to be down, instead of slightly up. Remember-you heard it hear first. Anyone in the market for a pair of designer sunglasses?

Deadbeats are up, false/unneeded bid retractions are up, sales are down, bidding is lower, stupid questions are up.

Shitty.

The bidders are there, you just have to sell what they want. I carry a diverse inventory and search to see what's selling and sell only that. I can tell most sellers do not do that because I'll see ten sellers listing the same non-selling item. The best items tend to be what they can't find in the stores, yet a demand still exists for it which usually have been past top sellers at Christmas. Food for thought.

Consider this. The bidders are still there but there's several times more competition right now.

A person who sells sweaters says that they aren't getting any bids, or only a few bids, right now on their auctions. I did a (title and description) search on the keyword sweater and there are 28681 items listed. No wonder this person isn't getting many bids.

That is just one example. Try it yourself...

My sales are up. Even things I'm relisting for the third time are now selling. My problem at this time is that I've run out of things to sell--in our area there's no garage sales (too much snow), auctions are down to a minimum (holiday season) and the thrift stores are full of shoppers. But--I'm not complaining. My e-bay checks are more than paying for my own Christmas shopping this year.

Here's how the last 72 hours have went for me:

First 36 hours--zero bids

Last 36 hours--numerous bids, and some nice sales going. What a relief.

I listed a few auctions at a .99 cent starting price--these are brand new items ending today and the bids are pretty depressing--maybe this wasn't the best time to try a new opening bid strategy

Bluee: I totally agree with you.

I have so many dead bidders within the last few weeks, it's unbelievable. I have one bidder didn't pay for over one month. She is bitching about something stupid and I didn't even neg her! I get asked so many stupid questions such as why do you have so many new clothings? What size it is, it's in the auction description!!

Dead bidders are up alright.
On bidder can't tell from PayPal to BidPay. She keep saying she pay me, but where?? Bidders from HELL!

slow...slow...slow week!!! Was wondering if I was the only one! I sell quite a few things and quite a diversity of stuff and, unlike what quickdraw seems to think about most of us sellers, know what I'm doing and I am having the slowest week ever! Here's to hoping that it will pick up by next week!
Really doing fairly well with "buy it now", though!

Things are going great for me. A couple of weeks ago I was hoping that I'd clear as much this year at holiday season as I did last. (which I was quite happy with) Now I'm just hoping for a chance to sleep because in the first week after Thanksgiving I sold more than I did the entire period last year from Thanksgiving to the first week of 2000. Between excellent sales and people contacting me for special orders and other direct sales I haven't had a whole lot of time to sleep.

On certain items,I'm doing great. But alot of what I'm posting is getting only one bid, those same items last year brought alot more money.I've been selling about 1/3 of what I'm posting for the last month, way down from last year. But I'm keeping the wolf away from the door,if it gets any slower I may have to shoot him!
