I am reminded on the song "here's your sign!" Does anyone remember that song talking about STUPID PEOPLE? Well I think I have the "cake taker".
I have sold online, mainly on ebay for two years. I have a feedback rating of almost 800. Recently I sold an article of clothing, a jacket, to a lady in NY, NY. She mailed me the money order. I boxed up and mailed the jacket right away. She left me shining feedback, I left her shining feedback. Only when I went to my bank to cash the money order did I realize she had endorsed it back to herself! She made it out to me,
"pay to the order of" she signed her name in the purchased space. Where she was supposed to put her address, she put the ebay item #. Then on the back, where I would endorse as payee, she signed it again, and then put her name and address below that. My bank would not cash it. I emailed "Mrs. Smith" and told her. She replied with "what can I do to make it right?" I emailed her back and told her if she would get another money order and not sign the back of that new one, once I received it, I would return this spoiled one, which she could cash for herself and get her money back. First she said "I don't have the recipt for the money order so cannot cash it." I explained to her that she did not need the receipt but could cash it anywhere, her bank etc. Then she emailed me back and said Okay. Next thing I know, I get another email from "Mrs. Smith" which said "I remembered where I was when I bought that money order. I was visiting a friend in upstate New York and showed her how to use ebay. I bought the money order there and it would not be possible for me to drive 150 miles back up there just to cash the money order!" (HUH???) I emailed her and asked her "Did she think I HAD TO DRIVE from out west to Upstate NY to cash the money order????????? I told her a money order was universal and could be cashed anywhere in the United States. She could not understand and so she asked me if it would be acceptable if she just sent the jacket back to me. I explained to her that this would be fine if she would also put in the money I spent shipping it to her, and explained that she was STILL out the money she bought the money order with! WELL!!! Today the jacket arrived in the mail.(with no money for shipping) She had glued the priority box back together to make it look like she had never opened it, wrote "refused" and "return to sender" on it. Now what would YOU do?????
Is this not a lady that needs a STUPID sign?????

It's so funny that you mentioned that "here's your sign" song because something reminds me of that almost daily!!

This lady deserves a sign, alright! I can't believe she didn't even pay to send the box BACK to you!! What nerve! Too bad you already left her positive feedback. I really don't know what else you can do but move on. I might be tempted to write her an email telling her what she did with the Priority box was ILLEGAL but then again, I don't think she'd "get it".

What kind of money order did she send you? If it's a postal MO you MIGHT be able to cash it at a Post office. Other than that, I don't know what to tell you. Sorry

If this is your "cake taker," consider yourself lucky. The bidder was dumb but honest.

I would send the money order to her C.O.D. Add in the cost to send it C.O.D. & the shipping she owes you. I would probably add in eBay fees too.

And if the buyer refuses the COD package, then Mzkittie is also out the COD fees and postage.

i would email the SOS -- stuck on stupid -- lady and TELL her she needs to send you an unendorsed postal money order for costs of shipping the coat to her, costs of mailing the MO back to her via return receipt requested, and ebay fees, through in the next listing fee for good measure along with the self address stamped envelope. And if she doesn't do it, explain to her that what she did was mail fraud -- the MO and fixing the priority box -- and that reporting her to the PO would result in very serious consequences to her.

maybe they'll deport her back to the land of the SOS.

Mzkittie was a postal employee for six years and realizes that about being stuck with the cod charges.
I just was amazed that someone could be so dumb as to not only think a money order could only be cashed at its place of purchase but not to realize that she had ALREADY paid for the money order!!!
HERE'S YOUR SIGN!!!
