Here's a good one... I had a client buy an item from me for $165.00 and pay through bidpay. Bidpay sent the confirmation of the payment and so I sent the item off.... 7 DAYS LATER!!!!! Bidpay writes me this message...
"Dear Valued Bidpay.com Customer;
...While we value your business and always make every effort to ensure that all
payment transactions are handled immediately, unfortunately we have had a problem processing the transaction for your high bidder and have sent them an email to let them know about this and to contact our
office to try and resolve the matter.
On rare occasions when this happens, we suggest that perhaps you should
contact the purchaser directly and make your own arrangements to receive the
payment. Please note that this is not a reflection on the willingness of your
purchaser to complete the transaction and our system may have simply not accepted the sale because the purchaser has not met one of
the strict security measures that we have in place to protect both the
buyer and seller. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
Sincerely,
BidPay.com"

I have written the buyer and bidpay, and -- of course - no repsonse from either! Any ideas of how to proceed - or similar stories. I would now like to ruin bidpay's reputation and I am starting here!

Bidbay sends 2 e-mails for every transaction. It is the second e-mail that advises that the money order has been mailed. I never mail merchandise before receiving the second e-mail.

Does this not say that the item's payment is is confirmed?
"We are writing to let you know that we have received an order from ..... to have $.... Western Union US$ money order sent to you for...."

I agree with Stockticker. Bidpay makes it very clear in the first email that you should not ship until you receive the 2nd. And I have never waited more than 3 days after that 2nd email for the money order to arrive. Their reputation is gold in my opinion.

Fonthill - looks like the email you have quoted is the first one. At the bottom of that email you should see this -

"This order is PENDING approval, you will receive a SECOND EMAIL from us when this order is approved and you SHOULD NOT send this item to the buyer until you get the SECOND CONFIRMATION EMAIL from us that it has been approved.

With thanks and looking forward to being of service in the future.

BidPay.com"

They send 2 emails to the seller. One saying a request has been made to purchase a money order and to check info provided. The second email confirms that the money order has actually been sent to you, the seller.

Some 2nd notices come right away. Once I had to wait 3 days for the second email.

Personally I NEVER ship until I have the money order in my hot little hands. Bidpay usually sends them within 1 week. I have never had a buyer complain about my holding off yet.

Got this one today without the first letter for a different item...
"I am writing to let you know that we have sent you a $... money order for payment of item #.... has chosen to use BidPay.com because it is the most convenient and fastest way for you to receive your payment. Should you decide to send the item while your money
order is on it's way to you, I have provided the shipping info. Your money order was shipped today. Thanks and please

SOunds to me like they approve some items without confirming and confirm some items without approving...

WOW What is with this sucks stuff

Frist ebay sucks then paypal sucks then exchange path and now bidbay sucks What fetish has come over this group.

Simple rules for bid pay frist tells you an order for a money order has been placed the second will be to confirm your address and the buyers address is correct if the buyer address dont match the one they gave you dont send your item report it to bidpay.

you have to wait your second notice could be like this one a rejection of payment.

I think we should all start saying "..... Sucks for ME!" when we start a new Suck thread. Then we can determine later on if they just suck for the post originator or the whole group in general.

Not to make light of your problem, fonthill.

Perhaps they should change their heading from "confirmation" to "pending". COnfirmation sounds like - go ahead! its done!

Fonthill....The message you quoted at 5:31:28pm is NOT in the style of BidPay. Is probably faked from the bidder or an associate of the bidder. BidPay never says "I", Be very careful here.

This just proves we should all learn to read more carefully. My son almost sent an item after the first letter until I pointed out to him it said " received order for". And yes one time I did only get the second confirmation letter.

I really do like Bidpay though.

I've had two or three payments through BidPay, and the first email is VERY clear that you should wait until receiving the second Confirmation email before shipping the item.

Someone is yanking your chain, and it isn't BidPay.

I have gotten at least 30 MOs from them, each one arriving in 3 days like a clock. I have total confidence in them - the only hang up is to CHECK YOUR ADDRESS and wait for the 2nd email.

It is possible that once someone opens a bidpay account and has had several transactions with them, they can send out the money order immediately and you don't need two confirmations. Moneyzap contacts every account when the first payment is made to verify identity. Once identity is established, they don't have to do this again for every payment.

I have a web page where I rate the payment services based on information I got from them and from folks who emailed me. So far I have heard nothing but good things about bidpay.

This situation sounds like either the first letter was faked or more likely the seller didn't bother to read the warning about waiting for the second one. Neither of these is bidpay's fault.

Greetings earthling

Like they say above, BidPay makes it super clear in the first (confirmation) email, imploring the seller not to send the goods until the second (money order approved) email comes..

Like some above, we don't mail until the MO arrives, anything could happen. Only repeat buyers that have gained our trust get their stuff before we get paid.

Besides, If Bidpay couldn't get money from them, you may not have faired any better. Who know's , maybe they'd have sent you a check, that would've bounced after you mailed the goods.

This isn't BidPays fault in any stretch of the imagination, just a learning experience. Perhaps the buyer is still trying to negotiate their registration with BidPay and you'll soon be paid. I also don't think its likely that the buyers are taking advantage of your slip-up in procedure and have suddenly gone from the average winning bidder to being grifting opportunists (note I said "not likely". Pretty unnerveing that they haven't answered your emails yet though.

That message that you quoted last sure doesn't look like any BidPay notice I've ever gotten. It kind of looks like a hybrid of Paypals message and BidPays message combined. If I got that message I would think it a hoax of some kind. Also, I've never gotten a "Money Order Approved" message without first getting the Confirmation message. Though I guess It could happen. Certainly a rare enough instance to not warrant being slammed in the title of a thread.

Personally, for reasons that suit my business (perhaps not everyones) I think BidPay is THE best payment system out there so far. Many of my internationals pay that way turning them into 5 day total (item shipped) transactions! Also, as a seller, I don't even have to be registered with them to get paid. I'm glad I held off on Paypal and opted to advertise BidPay for my online payment option. I actually feel like I'm doing my customers a valuable service by recomending them. They have my full endorsement.

Did you edit the message at 5:31? It doesn't read like what I thought I read a few moments ago and then commented on. It does indeed look like BidPays second message. Perhaps like a poster above suggested, that they may cease sending the first message once an account is confirmed.

Sorry, been browsing ebay...
Anyway, no I didn't edit the message at all other than the winner's name and the total amount...(I am trying to give them the benefit of the doubt...) But 4 days and counting with no response from either the buyer or bidpay (they at least should have sent some automated "thank you for your question..." response). I checked my records and no I didn't get the "Approval" email, only the "Confirmation" email, so I guess I am to blame for jumping the gun... but they really should use a different title in their email - we sell a fair bit, and keeping the bidpays, billpoints, money orders, cheques, stupid questions, NPB's, not-so-stupid questions, good questions, requests for billpoint invoices, thank-you's, follow-ups, address requests, notifications of selling, buying etc. etc. etc.... you know how it is, I guess I looked at the "Confirmation" email and went ahead and sent the item without waiting (although I still think they should change the title to "pending"...)

As a seller, the best thing to do is register with BidPay. Not only will your shipping info be filled in automatically [so the buyer can't screw it up], but you can also check your own payment status on their site. Once the item # says "sent", the MO is on the way.
Sounds to me like you shipped while it was still "pending".

Ooops.

Sounds like a case of not reading the entire email before acting. Obviously, this was the first time you had dealings with Bidpay, since you didn't know about the two emails they send out...something they've always done, and make an effort to point out to all their customers.

Perhaps it wasn't clear enough for you, but what I don't understand is that, since this is the first time you've used Bidpay, why didn't you thoroughly read up about the company handling your money?

In my book, Bidpay is as good as gold.

Here is my most recent (a week ago) experience with BidPay:
Auction ended appx. a month ago - international buyer sends email that they just paid through BidPay. I wait for confirmation - and wait - and wait. Buyer then emails me 3 weeks later - "I assume you got the money order, what it the status of my item?" I email them back, let them know I have received NOTHING from BidPay, not even an email - the next day, the money order is in my PO Box. Mind you, I feel silly now, cuz all I had to do in the first place is check my account at BidPay, but it didn't occur to me then.
Any other transaction through them went smoothly, even warning me not to ship the item until I got the confirmation email.

No, I am not a new user of bidpay, but rather one of the very first users of their service - because they were the only ones through whom payment could work on an international basis... Then billpoint came along and accepted non U.S. sellers, so since that happened a few months ago, I have had almost no bidpay payments. This was the first in a long time.
Actors who are in plays aften suddenly forget their lines four months into a run... I guess that explains this - the confirmation looked like the approval (thus confirmation is not a good word to use in an email title - "pending" would be better). COme to think of it - billpoint only sends one confirmation - why does bidpay even bother sending two if the first one means nothing?

"Personally I NEVER ship until I have the money order in my hot little hands." as anggellene stated.

I have never had a problem with Bidpay and I am completely happy with their service. I recommend it to all sellers.

BUT, I do not care if Bill Gates emails me himself and tells me he is sending payment I am not sending anyone anything until I receive payment in my hand.

dropover You are mistaking about the "I" in BidPay's emails and fonthill is correct. Here is a clip from the email I received from BidPay.com:

[i]I am writing to let you know that we have sent you a $17.19 money order for payment of item #xxxxxx
John XXX has chosen to use BidPay.com because it is the most convenient and fastest way for you to receive your payment. Should you decide to send the item while your money order is on it's way to you, I have provided the shipping info. Your money order was shipped today. Never rely on email notifications ALONE.
Login and check the website.
be it, paypal or bidpay, check the website.
make sure the payment is there in paypals case or APPROVED AND SENT in bidpays case.
