Hi. On a thread the other day about camera discs someone recommended that the discs be formatted with the PC rather than doing it on the camera to save the battery. Can someone tell me how to do that?

if youre using windows 95 or higher, just go to windows explorer and highlight the "a:" drive. right click on it and a menu will come up. make sure your disk is in your a: drive on your computer and then click on "format" and it will automatically format the disk for you.
i have a sony mavica digital camera and have found that its actually much quicker to format the disks using the camera rather than the computer. it doesnt drain the battery enough for me to notice, even after formatting four or five disks at a time.

i just got a new computer last week, also with windows me. itd probably be great, EXCEPT for the fact that it has windows me on it. oh well...
i havent tried to format any disks with win me yet, but you do it in the same way i described in my previous post. i dont know if your computer is the same as mine, but on mine (compaq) windows explorer is here: >start >programs >accessories >windows explorer

I don't know anything about Windows ME (I avoided it like the plague!), however if it is similar to Windows 98, try this:
1. Put your disk in the applicable drive.
2. Double click the "My PC" icon
3. RIGHT CLICK on the applicable drive letter. This should bring up a menu with the FORMAT option on it.
4. If it gives you a choice, select QUICK FORMAT or QUICK ERASE. You don't need the system files on your Mavica disks.
