Alright, this is getting a little bizarre.

I opened an EP account several months ago. I used it for one transaction, then, finally after numerous emails and phone calls, got my $10 bonus, and never used the account again.

So when these new problems started cropping up, I logged in to my account just out of curiosity. No problem. More suspensions were reported. I tried again. No problem.

In the mean time, I posted some things here very critical of ExchangePath.

Now, by coincidence I'm sure, I just received an email that starts out:

"Some of you have experienced difficulty with your account during the last week, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused. Our fraud investigators
noticed numerous attempts by some members to open accounts in order to make fraudulent transactions. To prevent these transactions and protect all our users, both sender and receiver accounts that fit specific criteria were suspended so that an investigation could take place. Be assured that once we activate an account, we return valid funds to our members."

I signed up with a valid Visa card. I made one transaction. Now they are implying that I am involved in fraud and if I had had an funds in my account, apparently they would have confiscated them.

Also, it was my understandint that the previous suspensions were due to they type of credit card used. Now they are claiming that the accounts that were suspended "fit the criteria" that indicate that they were involved in fraud.

I got the same email. I signed up with them about two weeks ago, have never used their service. My email says the same as yours but it goes on to say that I need to re-establish my account and that I can not reuse my user name, password, or email account. I need a new user name, password, and email account.
Now the user name and password I can handle, but I only have one email account and no intentions of getting a second one. I really don't understand any of this.

Yep. I just quoted the first part. I hadn't noticed the part about email address.

Clearly these people have absolutely no clue about the way auctions work.

This means that anyone who signed up with their Ebay email address can no longer use that address for ExchangePath.

Let's try explaining that one to customers. Hell, with Paypal, I have my address, both .com and .net version, plus both versions of those with a period on the end due to an earlier fiasco. And I still get people sending to the wrong address.

Now that want us to explain to bidders that they CAN NOT send to our Ebay email address. And I'm sure all bidders will read and comprehend this.

Brilliant. Just Brilliant.

What a joke. I also received the same email. Problem is, I've never had a transaction with them! I registered shortly after dumping PP, but not a single customer has chosen to use them.

I'm glad they closed my account. Saved me the trouble of doing it.

Excellent point. I think many, many people will share your sentiments. Except, of course, all those people who had money in their accounts and now have to prove that those funds are "valid."

This will make me sound dumb as a post, but how can you find out if there were funds in your exchangepath account when it was suspended? I've received NO email from them since this whole thing started. I see where others have gotten emails of some sort, some canned responses, some real emails. I have tried all of the numbers, and have emailed numerous times. I haven't heard a freakin word from these people!
exchangepath pam or whoever you are, what about some kind of answer??!!

My account was suspended and I still don't know why. As soon as the money I had in there reaches my bank account, I am closing my account.

The thing is, all of the vague reasons given for the mass-suspension didn't really apply to me. I signed up with a Visa debit card (x.com's, feh) and all my other info was current and correct. The only factor that had changed was the validity of the x.com card since x.com closed all those accounts. I hadn't used EP to receive any payments or send any in over a month and prior to that I'd only had one transaction with them. So, I get my first EP payment in over a month and the very next day when I go to withdraw it to my bank, the acct. was suspended.

I think that their "reasons" are just BS.

rhoover unless you had bonus (referral) money or sign up bonus money in there, which they don't notify you about, you SHOULD have been notified about any incoming payments so chances are you wouldn't have money in there and not know it. I got a referral bonus on my last transaction with them, but they don't notify about those. All I got from them in email was notification of payment, so when I was finally able to collect my money the extra $5 was a nice little surprise. Not that it matters, the referral bonuses are NOT enough incentive for me to risk doing business with thema again.

Just to clarify, I signed up with a Visa credit card from a Brick and Mortar bank months ago, had one transaction at the time, and that person was a regular customer who is certainly not involved in fraud. I withdrew my money, and that's it.

Before this cancelation, the only "interaction" that I've had with Exchangepath in months is making several postings here what were extremely critical of them.

I happen to know that they know the association between my AW ID and my email because the only way I was able to finally get my $10 sign on bonus months ago was a combination of email and interaction with reps who posted here.

Really, I'm sure its a coincidence, though. Exchangepath employees must have better things to do than exact revenge on random posters.... like searching through Monster.com hoping to find a new gig before CMGI servers up this turkey for Christmas.

Pam, I hope that stock options aren't a significant portion of your compensation.
