19) Glass items VERY improperly packaged.
I ordered a set of collectible drinking glasses awhile back. These glasses are very thin and fragile, thinner than the glass normally used. The package arrived with each glass haphazardly wrapped in only a thin (1/16-inch) piece of foam, in a single box (not double boxed).
Amazingly each glass survived the ordeal. Talk about lucky!
(edited for a stray winkie face - how'd that get there?)

18. Stench so bad upon cutting the tape, I discarded box and contents without even unpacking. In fact, I stored it alongside the house until trash day.
I would not even put it in my TRASH for fear of infecting everything in the garage.

from what my memory serves me correctly, the fellow who shipped the pizza box with ants, if you read all his negatives, he ALWAYS had someone complaining to him about the way he shipped. (and how he was always the first guy to negative these poor bidders)
He also..
shiiped in a fruit box filled with catapillars
shipped a computer keboard wrapped in computer paper and mailed it for .75 cents and charged the guy 6.00
shipped a Nintendo game wrapped in paper for .50 cents, charged 5.00, when he negative the bidder for complaining, his reason for the price washe claimed that the nearest post office was 100 miles away, so he lost money on this transaction.
Man, what was this sellers name? He has to be the WORST shipper in HISTORY of ebays IMHO!
Who can forget his response to the bidders complaint on the pizza box...."So the item arrived safely, why are you complaining"!
I will NEVER forget this sellers feedbacks and comments. What was his name?!!

15: bought a plush ziggy doll for a former co-worker to give to her grandson who's name is ziggy. it came from a smoker's house. it wasn't in the auction. but i had to leave it in the garage for a week to get rid of the cigarette smell. it was nasty.
no, i'm not complaining about smokers and them not putting in their auctions. just this one item.

I bought a computer once... transaction was perfect, until I received the system.
He'd packaged it in a light duty box (not meant for shipping)...
That's bad enough, but the computer, keyboard, and mouse JUST fit inside the box (with all sides bulging)...
Notice I haven't mentioned anything BUT a box and a computer... no packing materials. JUST a CPU, keyboard, mouse, and one very light duty box.
The box arrived with 8 rounded corners. The computer had 2 "rounded" corners and 2 crashed hard drives. Keyboard was in shambles (keys missing/cracked... connector bent beyond repair). The mouse survived and amazingly, the computer ran (after installing a new hard drive), though it still has cracked-off corners.
I asked for insurance - he didn't ship with any (insurance doesn't cover bad packaging anyway). Ebay's built-in insurance ($250 is it?) doesn't cover damage from bad packing...
Burned... no real recourse. The seller was indignant and really ticked that I didn't believe he packaged the system safely (I SWEAR it REALLY was THAT bad) and sent me more than a few threatening emails...
It was a good deal (BEFORE he shipped) on an old computer (using it for light duty stuff).
Nowadays, if its something important or expensive and the seller has low-ish feedback, I will not bid unless they accept escrow... I know there are a lot of great sellers out there, but all it really takes is one exceptionally bad transaction...
I just recently bought a laptop from a 0 feedback seller via escrow... transaction and packing were perfect, it was a great deal, and he shipped for free (next-day fed-ex!)!
I have, however, never received living creatures in with my ebay purchase (and I hope I never do!)

Box has "questionable" stickers on it.
I've had boxes sent to me that held Gunpowder, Dynamite, Fireworks, Crosive(sp?) Agents, and one box had several Bright Orange "BIOHAZARD" stickers on the side.
Glad I wasn't burned, blown up, severly injured, infected with Ebola or whatever exotic virus, and surely not warrant police investigation.

I received some costume jewelry, which I paid way too much for anyway, and chains were hanging out all four corners of the box. The seller said "just as described in auction". I read nothing about poor packing in the auction.!!!

Twice now I have recieved oil lamps, securely wrapped and shipped, but the sellers neglected to remove the oil!
Talk about a soggy slimey mess.
Sheesh!

For myself...5 delicate porcelain pieces each wrapped in a half of an old paper towel carefully arranged on the bottom of a box that was about 15 times too big with no other wrapping. One piece was broken.
A seller who charged $12.00 for "careful packing" and the vase arrived rolling around in an otherwise empty box. (He also had the temerity to send me a message and ask for positive feedback.)
From the Board... a woman who received a cheese dish complete with cheese mold and bacteria.

I received a 1/18 Scale Volkswagen Beetle (about 9" inches long) in a Priority Mail Envelope, no packing material whatsoever
More than once I have received lots of toy car shipped loose in a box with no packing.
I always ask to have cars individually wrapped now, napkins or paper towels are excellent for this purpose.
