I'm getting a US check and will be taking to my US bank to cash. How long does it take for a US check to clear--and for my bank to know if it doesn't.

On average it takes 10 business days for an out of state check to clear your account. The best thing to do is check with your bank and see what their average time period is.

After waiting 4-5 days, you should be able to start phoning the bank on which the check was drawn to see if it's cleared. Only way to know for sure.
