Helped you to accomlish with using it as a venue for making a living, or augmenting your income? For me, it has enabled me to pay for Radiation Treatments for someone very special to me, allowed me to work from home, and enabled me to meet some really wonderful people I would not have met otherwise. How about you?

eBay pays for my health insurance every month, and helped with the downpayment on our minivan. (Ugh...everytime I say "minivan", I want to look for the "soccer mom" stamped on my 27-year-old forehead!"

eBay allows me to stay at home and get wasted whenever I want, not to mention getting alcohol ordered over the Net.

It has also alllowed me to meet people who use really cool words and type real nice.

I started selling on Ebay in October. My sales have generated enough extra for me to take my family to Orlando for two weeks this January. Living on the Canadian prairies and being able to escape -30C for two weeks was a faint hope a few months ago, now my family can thaw out for a couple of weeks
It's also been a boon to feeding my own Hotwheel collecting habit. I'm still upbeat about the whole experience.

Good topic, furkidmom I am actually a full time rock musician - but Ebay has allowed me not only to make a little extra money on the side - but most importantly to me - selling my music on Ebay allows me to reach people all over the country - and all over the world - that it was harder to reach before. Someone from the Netherlands bought my recordings the other day. And in the past two weeks I have had TWO radio stations contact me and order my music, and a women-in-rock type magazine in the UK interested in doing an article on me. My sales are not so huge, I am no power seller by any means and don't plan to be; this is not a big money maker for me - however, this IS a great way to promote my music WITHOUT any major record company, thank you very much I am thrilled to be an independent recording artist who has found a place like Ebay! And the little bit of extra money it does bring in, really helps a LOT!!!

NYCRocker, that's really cool. Congratulations on your success! If you've got an MP3 I'd love to hear it.

eBay allowed me to get off government disability after 10 years and support myself and family. I'm not working full time, maybe 25-30 hours a week, but I am happy to be doing something productive. Mainly, eBay is fun because I get to be the boss.

Thank you Twin! Can you believe I DON'T have any MP3 files yet? But I am working on that too. Am I allowed to post my website here for you to see?? I guess I'll find out www.jantilley.com
Twin congrats on being off disability! And isn't BEING THE BOSS the BEST!?!?!! I had so many horrible "day jobs" back when I was struggling more with music. I had MEAN bosses and horrible hours and crappy pay...UGH. But now I have this thing I like to say out loud every now and then - and I say it really loud: "YOU'RE NOT THE BOSSA ME - I'M THE BOSSA ME!" Try it! It feels GREAT!!!!!

NYCRocker, that is a great web site and I'm looking forward to hearing some of your music. These forums always surprise me. I didn't realize you are a woman. Wow, you are so beautiful! Best of luck with your music.

Ebay has performed miracles. The sheep follow their master. Bow down and worship your god. Ebay cured the leppers. Now the blind can see and the cripples can walk. And a lot of them see well enough to walk over to Yahoo so they don't have to pay god's fees.

Boy, do I feel silly. I also thought rocker was male, and the same thing happens to me all the time (People assume I'm my hubby, although I don't know a lot of guys that would choose an "angel" nick, but hey.... ). Ebay has tided us over some tough times (thanks to my ex) and helped weed out inventory from a collectibles store than never materialized (not yet, anyway). It's given me confidence that I do know my stuff and my ability to make a living off my interests and manage my business.

Let's see, since eBay:

My closets and cupboards are less cluttered.
I've made nice new friends at the local Post Office.
The money we've made from selling off clutter has helped pay for a new laptop for me, and pretty much funded Christmas this year.
It has given our family some new Catch Phrases, "Hey, we could sell that on eBay", and "Don't throw that air pillow, bubble wrap, boxes, tissue paper away"

1) My wife "retired".
2) My house is MORE cluttered.
3) Learned much about the postal service.
4) Started my own (failing) auction service.
5) Added a good threat to my kids - "You pick up your junk or I'm selling it on eBay!"
6) Made me a talked about internet guru at work.
7) Love to open the mail now!

Edited because I'm a lousy typist!

It's helped me avoid having to put my son in daycare and get a loathsome job outside the home, since my husband has been unemployed for the past year due to debilitating depression and other mental health problems.

Basically, it has paid the bills and allowed me to remain at home with my kids.
