I send my usual email for the winner of an auction that recently ended. I send the shipping/insurnace costs along with it. When I receive the response from him, he responds by saying he is in New Zealand. I state in my auctions United States only. Do I have to sell this to him?

mrshoosier - No, not if you don't want to since your description said you don't sell internationally. A lot of sellers will complete the deal though, for a variety of reasons.
It's strickly up to you. You would be within ebay rules not to though.

Well this happened to me too recently with 2 book auctions. I live in Australia and had listed them as available for Australia only - as I thought no one would be mad enough to pay the postage to overseas on heavy artists books. But anyway 2 US buyers won and I decided to continue with the sale on the premise that they were happy with the postage costs. Both parties were and I received excellent feedback so now I offer nearly all of my auctions to the US/Canada. So I guess what I am saying is that it is worth a go..and you can always relist if they baulk at the postage costs. Good luck

Best Idea for this whether you choose to sell internationally or not is alway add "International buyer email for shipping rates" at the end of your EOA total this way if you do happen to get a buyer from outside USA they will know the Total you give for shipping is not for them they have to email for a new rate so you dont get stuck if you decided to sell to them for the extra shipping cost.
