I have some Hummel look alike figurines that are made & signed by Erich Steuffer. They are over 30 years old. I was under the impression Erich Steuffer was a designer for Hummel. I can't find any information about him.
Can anyone help. I don't know how to post an
image here. Tell me how to do it & I will post a picture.
Jane

Hi Jane

If you have already uploaded the photo to an image host, try this (inserting the URL and deleting the *s at either end):

[*img]thephotoURLhere[*/img]

To upload to AW directly, click on the Auction Manager tab at the top of the page, and select Image Hosting. Follow the instructions to upload the image and then use:

[*img]http://imagehost.auctionwatch.com/preview/mc/mcjane/theimagename.jpg[*/img]

again deleting the *s and inserting the jpg name. (This is assuming you are using you mcjane ID for hosting.)

Hope this helps

Hi jane,

Did you upload them to Image Hosting first? I can't access them - just get the "Not Found" message.

Very strange - if you want, email the auction numbers to me at [email protected] and I'll try from my end. See if I have any success.
*edited to add:

You could try this method:

1. Click on the Image Hosting link in Auction Manager

2. Select the image you want the URL for and in the Action Panel click "go" (the default is already set to attach the image).

3. A larger image will appear - follow the prompt to the next page.

4. A box of HTML will appear - you need the first URL which will be something like
http://imagehost.auctionwatch.com/bin/imageserver.x/000db5a1/yourAWid/yourimage.jpg

mcjane:

(I'm butting in), let me give it a try. Are this the one?

If so, the problem is that it is named .jpeg, not .jpg.

[*b]bold[*/b] = bold

THANK YOU!!! . I've been trying to figure out that one for a while!!

Now if only I had more info on Erich!!

There is a Hummel site, though, and maybe Jane can direct an inquiry there:

I have sold a couple of these . They are just what you said - hummel look alikes and the market is not really great for them. They are pretty common and the quality of the ceramic and the glaze is definitely not that of a Hummel. He did make some really cute ones though (love his astronaut one). I have seen lots on ebaY so you should be able to search for them there. -Rosalinda

Michelle & kidsfeet Please "butt in"
anytime I need all the help I can get.
I kind of think I drive the moderators crazy,
so they need all the help they can get when I start asking questions. I was on webtv until yesterday & now have a computer so look out because I don't know much more than how to turn it on......This is not easy, webtv is easy.

mrgroup...Thanks for the information. I have seen them on eBay & your right they do not sell for much. A prospective bidder emailed me & said she collected them & asked me if I knew anything about Erich Steuffer.
All I know is what I said in the auction so I got curious & went to search & nothing came up. I was hoping someone would know something about him. Maybe shosh might see this & know something. She is extremely well versed on topics like this.

sissyclarke you need to remove the * at either end for it to work.

Sorry Jane - looks like we've hijacked your thread

The mark is not German, it is the copycat mark of a Japanese import from the 1950's. You will be making a big mistake if you say in your auction that these are from Germany.

Hi - Well, most likely, these figurines are copies of Hummel Molds CAST IN JAPAN, of much lighter ceramic. Often, these pieces as well as others, were then SENT BACK to another country for decorating: France, Germany, US...That's why the colors look so much like real Hummel...They were most likely painted in a studio very familiar with the Goebel techniques. You can see some Japanese pieces with a Picard mark...Blanks were sent from Japan to Chicago for decorating...Same with Limoges-looking pieces. No great market for any of it. The mark shown by Ondehouse is very different from that shown by mcjane, whose mark is Japanese , with 5 quills, instead of 4, on the arrow and a number underneath.
