I have had a couple of bad experiences with refunds...where I refunded a bidder's money not because of a defect, because they changed their mind etc...and then they left a neg or a neutral anyway. What do you think of a policy that asks them to leave fb before refund? BTW, I leave feedback to all bidders the day I ship. I don't know what else to do to protect myself. Incidentally, I have over 1000 feedbacks with 4 negs and 8 neutrals...should I be concerned????

you can always respond to feedback. what policy is it that asks them to leave feedback before a refund? or at all? with your good rating i wouldn't worry about one or two undeserved negs.

What policy?

Lets see... You have my money (payment in full), I am also out the additional money to mail the item back. You want me to say I am satisfied with the transaction before it is complete!! What if you disappear off the face of the earth and I am left with nothing-I then have no recourse at all.

Nah!

Nanastuff, is this a continuation of another thread? If so, I missed it.
In her original post Susiegirl said "What do you think of a policy that asks them to leave fb before refund?, by which I understand that she is the seller and wants the buyer to give her feedback before she will send a refund. Am I reading this totally wrong?
If she means an ebay policy rather than a personal policy, I seriously doubt if they would consider it. Feedback should be left when a transaction is complete, not half-way through it.

The question of when feedback should be left is endlessly debatable.

However, any seller who actually propposes to require bidders to leave FB before seller refunds needs to read her proposed policy aloud, just to see how wacky it is. Blondesense is right on the money. This is teetering pretty damned close to feedback extortion: leave me pos FB or I won't refund your $ the way I said I would. You want bidders to leave you FB, susiegirl? I can guarantee you that if you make this sort of demand, you'll get FB all right.

It would make more sense to me to wait to leave feedback until after the transaction is completed. As you can see, it's not complete when you cash the buyer's check. I've had to refund twice, and each of us gave the other a positive both times.

I leave feedback the day payment is made unless there have been problems with the bidder. You might do best to simply reconsider your policy of refunding customer's money for "buyer's remorse". My policy is all sales final unless there is an undescribed flaw. My merchandise is always very well described and I've never had a complaint of undisclosed flaws in almost 2000 sales.

Hello SusieGirl,

I have all of about 40 feedback on my tintinnabulation selling id and I would not be concerned about the occasional negative after a refund. It is easy enough to respond to such a negative and I doubt very much that anyone would not bid on my auctions because of that type of negative.

I take your mention about a policy of receiving FB before refunding to be a personal policy that you would post to your auctions.

If that is how you intended it then my advice is to forget it. I believe complex auction terms are a bigger turnoff than an occasional negative on the seller's feedback profile. It seems to give many folks the sense that you don't trust them.
