I had a book to sell about real estate. Well, I usually look for related categories to put books into, not just books. So I listed it in Real Estate (using a bulk lister, so I didn't see the fees like you do in ebay). DUMB, DUMB, DUMB
$50 in listing fees to list a book that I had an opening bid of $1 that didn't sell.
Then to make it worse, I didn't realize the fees, and just pressed the relist button. I only realized it today when I got my CC bill and saw my ebay fees were much higher than usual.
Now, I've spent $100 to list one cheap book (with a NPB) without realizing it.
Boy, do I feel dumb. And poor. Wiped out the profit from a bunch of other sales.
I've sent an email to ebay customer support although I doubt the can/will help me, but it can't hurt to ask.
Can anyone say anything to cheer me up? Or has anyone else have something that tops mine.
Now I feel like Scrooge!

Yikes! That is a bummer!
If you don't get any help the first time from Customer Support, I'd try again and ask that a supervisor review the matter. Sometimes that gets a different result - and as you say, it can't hurt to ask.

Iwould quietly slip away before they suspend you for listing out of category. That seems like how some of those people they have hired would resolve it.

Believe it or not, ebay refunded my listing fees! (minus the .25 cents it should have cost!)
That's one of the best Xmas presents I had! And they did it fast too!
Yeah!

reminds me of the one Paul did. listed a car manual as a car and had a hefty listing fee. this was before ebay motors. he also got the fee refunded, minus the .25 normal listing fee.

Well OZ, I was going to tell you ebay would refund the fees, but apparently you found that out already.
ebay (even with some of their stupid policies in place) still manages to protect the seller that screws up on occasion.
I accidentally listed in the real estate category one time and ebay was very quick to refund the fees when I emailed them.
Of course they do not have to, but it makes sense that they do.
