Any one else out there getting the e mails that start out "My package didn't come, what are you going to do about it! "

Some Priority mail sent out Tuesday has arrived, some sent out Monday hasn't. What can I do about it a 3:00 PM on a Saturday anyway?

While standing in line at the Post Office, I hear the clerk say over and over "If you ship it Priority it will get there in 2 days. " I told her that Priority rarely makes it in 2 days from our location. Mostly 3 or 4. She said she had to say that to encourage people to choose Priority.

Yes, it is frustrating to not have things arrive. I went through it myself a week ago when the snow closed the midwest airports.

I agree, packages mailed on the 18 should have been delivered by now. But what am I supposed to do when they aren't?

Since Dec 15 I have offered everyone I shipped to delivery confirmation so they can track their packages if they wanted.

The ones writing now didn't want to pay the 35 cents!

I know there is no solution here, it is just "nice" to know I am not the only seller dealing with this!

I have sent out over 1000 things in my ebay carreer and have never had the post office make an error (lose an item). I have found ni a couple cases that I have entered an address wrong in my mailing labels program or even once or twice a customer gave me his address wrong, but the good old USPS has done a great job. I think they have a pretty good efficienty/accurateness record overall and you only see people talking about them to blame them. Thnk aboutit, they provide a great service at a good rate. (no im not am employee )

I learned from reading these threads to ged DC on every package. I pay for it and it eases my mind. I do have a package that was shipped on the 15th that has still not arrived. Do they delivery priority on Christmas day?

Hi, I had a bunch of packages that were sent out Dec 8th. A few emails started trickling in; "Where's my package", "Did you send my item yet". A total of 5. Well, the packages finally made it to their destinations. On Dec 21st! So, just tell them to hang in there, they should have it soon...

For the past three Christamses I have offered a special service to guarantee delivery by christmas. I charge an extra fee for this. And the amount of the fee depends on when I get thier payment. If they don't pay the fee (ranges from $1 in early Dec to $10 later) I don't gurantee delivery by Xmas.

I've gotten several complints from several prople about not getting thier packages. These people didn't buy the serivce. I point out to them that a delivery guarantee was offered and they declined. End of argument.

For those who did pay, Packages shipped up to Dec 16th were shipped Priority mail. After that I used (and charged for ) FedEx 2 day air. If they didn't want to pay for this then they could have it shipped Priotiy mail, but I made no assurance of on time delivery.

Well this is my 3rd X-mas on Ebay.. Sent EVERYTHING EXPRESS MAIL and low & Behold only 2 packages have made it on time so far. Yes I know you have to HAVE the money to do this & it is a gamble. Last year it was 1/2 and 1/2 this year, I guess I just got lucky (or maybe not since I sent out a few 4 days ago that are currently in the OZONE LAYER)... Atleast you get the MONEY back...Sigh

I have a friend that works for United Airlines and she says that when the airplane is overweight the first thing that is taken off the plane is the mail. That is not a priority for the airlines. That could be one reason the packages haven't arrived. We mailed a priority package on Monday to Phoenix and they didn't get it until Thursday. I am sure the USPS is trying their best to accomodate all the mail but when we wait until the last minute to mail packages then they have an overflow so really whos fault is it. I would say the person that waits until the last minute to mail and also the last minute to find Christmas gifts on EBAY will probably not get their packages to their destination on time. Just my opinion.

I don't fault the post office for this, I think they do a great job with the amount of mail they get.

(Although maybe my PO shouldn't say Priority WILL be there in 2 days without sending some test packages themselves. SHOULD be there in 2 days would be more honest. )

What I find frustrating are the buyers that knew their item was going out on the 18th, and won't take in consideration the stormy weather and the holiday mailings. And want me to be able to tell them where their package is, the one I last seen at the post office on Monday.

Even Express Mail isn't being delivered as promised -- my mailman just now tried to deliver an Express payment that was supposed to be here the 20th.

Last Friday I had a brand-new user snark at me because her Priority Delivery Conf. package not only had not arrived, but was not at all registered in the system. She accused me of basically lying that I'd even sent it -- never mind that my feedback rating is almost 2300 -- said because she waived insurance, I could very easily pull a fast one.

Well guess what -- BWAHAHAHA -- I followed my gut instinct about this customer and INSURED the package! Now the USPS shows it as having been delivered the very day after her e-mail -- and do you think I got any kind of apology or note? HECK NO!

Takes all kinds, and I am about to go to a Christmas Soiree and not think about EBAY!

THANKS FOR THIS THREAD - I was thinking I was the only one that the post office did in! And YES it is the post office, we are one day from one of our packages that didn't arrive, and it was sent priority on Tuesday! We closed our auctions on the 11th, but payments kept coming in. On the 15th we told everyone that nothing shipped after than would arrive by Christmas - but we did ship some that were so close to us they couldn't miss - well they couldn't if the post office was doing their job.

Thank heavens the season is over. NEXT year, we are dropping off the boards on the 1st of December - I'll rather sell less and have less headaches. One upset customers is enough for me.

PTL, we aren’t going back on the boards till after the first and hopefully everyone will have relaxed, and cooled off by them – this season was the worst, in relationship to deliveries.

I am getting the same thing. 3 emails in the last week.

It has taken up to 2 weeks for a Priority Package to arrive at it's destination.

My Post Office told me one day last week, that they had so many boxes sitting around that they had to almost step on them to walk around.....they finally found my little box, they knew it was there somewhere!

This is all new to me. I have been doing auctions since spring of 1999, but missed last Christmas due to a surgery that had me off my feet for awhile, so this is the first Christmas rush I have experienced.

This doesn't have anything to do with Ebay BUT..
I didn't get my package today!! It was shipped on the 17th(Sun)Priority mail from EToys.. 6 days!! No PACKAGE!! GRRRR

This is from my order status..

Your package shipped from our warehouse on 12/17/00 via USPS Priority. Packages shipped in this method ordinarily arrive in 2-3 business days.(Ha ha ha ha...)

Package Status: In Transit
Tracking Number:XXXXXXXXXX
Service Type: USPS Priority

Guess I will have to copy a picture of the toy for my daughter, put it in a box and wrap it up. Won't be as good as the real thing, but it will have to do for now.

"I have a friend that works for United Airlines and she says that when the airplane is overweight the first thing that is taken off the plane is the mail. That is not a priority for the airlines."

United must have a different loading priorty than other airlines then. I work for Alaska Airlines and mail is NOT the first thing to get bumped unless it is bulk mail. If no priority mail gets on that airplane, than no cargo, goldstreaks, bulk mail, etc. gets on that airplane either. Same goes for Pen Air, ERA Aviation, and all the other little airlines that we work with. This time of year, planes are being bulked out with baggage, which has included christmas trees, amazingly enough.

I am going nuts.

I send everything priority mail. The emails from folks that haven't gotten their packages is piling up. Many of the packages that I have sent to states that are having snowstorms have been returned stamped "unclaimed".

Delivery confirmation is almost worthless. It is registering about 60% of the time. Luckily I get them postmarked. This week I have sent out scans of my DC receipts to 12 people that claimed I did not send their package.

It also seems that the ebayers are testier this year. I have been accused of mail fraud so many times this month, I am considering changing my name to that.

Almost every problem has come from new ebayers. Of course the old warhorses are something else also. I had one 400+ feedback (several negs for bounced checks and no payment) email me and say:

"Where are my F***ing shoes???!!! I don't have time for games. I wil neg you and file a fraud report if I don't get my shoes within 3 days. You don't know who you are attempting to scam. I will sue you. These are a Xmas gift. Geez. If you are going to sell on ebay get it right!!!!!!! Its not like you have a REAL job!"

My reply:

"Your card has been declined twice. In an effort to preserve your dignity, I did not attempt to run it a third time. Each time I run your card and it is declined it costs me money. My bill for running your card follows. Please remit payment promptly or I will sue you for monies owed and court costs. I have also filed a NPB alert with ebay. I did not play games as a child and I certainly don't play them as an adult."

I had already contacted her about the declined card. I know that she read my emails, her server sent me a receipt. The thing that really gets me is she was NARU before I good leave a good neg. Geez!

What a lovely Christmas greeting from your buyer. Ain't it grand how the Christmas Holiday brings out the best in people.

The season brings forth so much joy, kindness and understanding, I can hardly wait till next year.

The Post Office is going to extend Christmas giving for me too this year. Luckly me--I got exactly what I expected, although I did have hope.

The Postal Service puts out announcements that if an item is mailed by a certain date it will arrive before Christmas. All sensible people, like your buyers, know that a government agency wouldn't lie, and they certainly wouldn't break a promise.

Sarcasm aside, my post office does tell people that Priority is not guaranteed, and that delivery can take longer than 3 days. They tell people this all year long not just at Christmas.

I always have had trouble convincing some people that Priority is not guaranteed 3 day delivery, they're always telling me that they asked THEIR Post Office and THEIR Post Office said Priority is always deliveried in 3 days.

Like I said, "sensible" people know...

Delivery confirmation is worthless as far as tracking goes. All it tells you is the date it was sent and the date it was delivered. For all the buyers asking where there package is, DC is of no use at all. There is no way to actually track it, since it isn't scanned while enroute.

A few things from buyer's point of view.

1. Delivery Confirmation will never be willingly paid for by a buyer. It's worthless to a buyer.

2. Offering "on time delivery insurance" for an extra fee is offensive. It's an extra fee for what I already paid for. If you're offering to send it by some service better than Priority Mail, then say so and charge accordingly. But if it means you're going to age my package to punish me for not paying the extra fee, the "argument isn't over".

Yes, I know that's not what's going on. But from a buyer's perspective, that's what it seems like.

3. Many buyers are ignorant, and fast to accuse. We've all done it, the fast, ignorant accusation. The best reaction is a calm, informative answer. "Package mailed by priority on 18 Dec. Sorry, but the mail is sometimes delayed, we hope and expect that it will arrive very soon". There is no point in engaging buyer in any kind of battle at all, no prize for winning. The only goal is a happy buyer.

I sent 50 items priority mail with DC, and 16 of them never arrived at their destination. I sent items the same day UPS ground and each piece arrived the day they was supposed to. With the rate hike in january UPS is the only way to go, and the tracking on their site is superb. I talked to my UPS driver and he informed me that UPS will be no more than $1.00 above the new priority rate. So if a 2lb priority costs $3.95, then it will cost no more than $4.95 ups and that includes insurance and tracking which costs extra for priority.

DON'T COMPLAIN - TAKE ACTION – TELL THE PRESS WHO IS THE REAL GRINCH THIS YEAR!

I believe instead of complaining and bemoaning the failure of the USPS this year, to each other here, that we should let the press know that THIS year it isn't the failure of the e-commerce retailers, but the USPS, which has put the Grinch into Christmas!!!

PRIORITY DELIVERED ON SUNDAY MORNING TO A CUSTOMER!!!! See we still live in the age of miracles!!

This is a rarity I am sure, but I do have to say PTL on one of those packages which failed to be delivered on time by the USPS. I just got a note from a customer who told me the USPS delivered his PRIORITY shipment TODAY - SUNDAY!!!!

Apparently there have been tons of complains about endless disappointments caused by the USPS late shipments!!!Wishes to everyone for a Blessed Christ Day. Our Christmas Greeting to YOU at this URL:

A package was sent to me priority last Saturday. It still hasn't arrived (Oklahoma tř Maine)....This is a terrific seller that I have dealt with before, so I know its the Post Office! I just figure between the snowstorms and the delays at the airports that my package is "somewhere" enroute! LOL
It was a gift to "me" from "me"...so I can wait.
But this has been one heck of a year for weather in many parts of the country...this could be the reason for the delays.
