Just wanted some feedback on this ad for an auction I just created. Thanks.

By "bad taste", I assume you mean the referenece to Florida's holding up the election? I live in Florida and I don't see any thing wrong with it. People down here vote like they drive. They can't seem to make up thier minds if they want to make a turn or not, or which lane to drive in either.

It doesn't seem to be in bad taste to me, but I am wondering if since your auction ends on the 3rd, you'll be able to ship this item for the $3.20 you state in your auction before the rates go up on the 7th? It would be a drag to lose 30-75cents on postage on a small item.
Just as a heads up, on Jan 7th, Priority for one pound goes to $3.50 and for 2 pounds goes to $3.95. You can get the complete changes by going to the usps website and clicking on Notice (or Publication) #123.

You won't see this Floridian bidding on ANY of your auctions. I can't see why I'd want to spend my money with somebody who starts out by insulting ANYbody.
I have serious doubts about the business acumen of anybody who, having had doubts about the appropriateness of his marketing text, would run the listing anyway. Why would you want to risk alienating ANY potential customer?
Generally, if you find yourself wondering "Is what I'm planning to do in bad taste?" it probably is.

I don't see anything wrong with it. If that is considered bad taste then Leno, Letterman, and virtually every comedian has been in bad taste for the past 6 weeks. Lighten up folks. Laugh a little. Have a Merry and a Happy.

don't think it's insulting. maybe just a chad old, er i mean tad old for a joke. he he he.
does the weight of the mug require priority shipping? with the upcoming rate increases, could it go cheaper? not just your mug, but things in general. i think smart sellers would be start offering a choice of first class before it hits the priority rate and then the priority rate if that is what a buyer wants. i know priority is in effect at 13 ounces.

According to the new Rate chart I have there is basically 0 to .05 to difference in most frist class mail over priority mail with the new rates and the difference in parcel post is .95 to $1.10 over priority.
Also I am finding if your doing top quality shipping with new clean boxes only and you dont have a source of whole sale boxes new boxes are from .42 to 3.50 each free new priority boxes will still be a bargan by far.
What im curious about in this listing is how a cup about the 2000 fla election ordeal could have been design and copy wrote 1997.

Another Floridian (native thankyouverymuch!) checking in here, I don't think it's in particularly bad taste, but it might offend some, it is a tired joke, and it really doesn't have anything to do with the election. I agree with HCQ, why risk offending anyone? You're selling stuff, not being a political pundit.

HCQ says:
I can't see why I'd want to spend my money with somebody who starts out by insulting ANYbody.
AND THEN goes on to start out by insult THEM!

Another Floridian here I see nothing wrong with it.Its a statement of fact and I do not read any offense into it.
I guess those who do have nothing better to do than find a reason to complain about anything and everything.

"I guess those who do have nothing better to do than find a reason to complain about anything and everything."
Well, Adrian, I really don't think that is the point and sorry you feel that way. The poster did ask if it is offensive. To some it is; to others it is not. As other posters have pointed out, why risk an auction over this?? If you feel (mfigroid) that it is offensive, then you bet it is to some people and isn't the objective of sellers to lure as many buyers as you possibly can??

Since the mug has nothing to do wth the election, the reference is gratuitous and even misleading. Why bother? Time would be better spent with a better description, photos, etc.

Duhhhhhh..??
The auction description makes NO mention of 'the mug' being made for the 2000 election at all...

Criticism is hard to take seriously, pocono, when it's badly misspelled.
Since you seem to find fault with my questioning the seller's business acumen, please tell me: Do you think that risking a lost sale sale because of a remark the seller himself wondered might be in bad taste is GOOD business sense - particularly when the remark has absolutely NOTHING to do with the item in question?

Gee HCQ, I apologise that you are having such a hard time reading my last post. Tis true that I wasted my time in the military after high school, instead of going to collage<sp>.
Weren't much need to spell correctly in the Middle East though.
I don't pay too much attention to spelling like some other folk, what with ME being a mature adult and all. Don't worry, some day you'll understand it.
Anyways, comprehension<sp> must also be hard to understand in my post, as I did not comment on your VIEW, but your insulting way of telling someone else that they were insulting others.
I hope that this post is ledgable enough for your highly advanced vocabulary and spelling skills.
Course, if it's not...OH WELL

I'm not from Florida, but I do think that these types of comments will be cropping up on auctions that have the slightest connection to Florida.
Do I find it offensive? No, just not necessary. It seems to border on key word spamming as well.
IMHO, Criticism and condescension are both hard to take, especially when spelled badly.

"I only have one, but feel free to order a hand count" LOL!!! I thought it was pretty funny myself. I say leave it that way. If anyone is really offended by THAT, then they need to bid on some ExLax and forget the coffee mug.

Obviously not everyone thinks it's in "bad taste" - Already 4 bids - and it's got 8 days left....
Considering what can and is being sold on Ebay - I hardly consider this to be in Bad Taste! -
Got any Massachusetts ones?!
