I saved a link to Vranes Snipe page on my links bar a while back and I clicked on it a few minutes ago and get this message:

Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /cgi-bin/s on this server.

I already saved a snipe bid a couple days ago for an auction that ends in under 3 hours and I need to up my minimum and I won't be home when this item. I NEED THIS ITEM!!

I am using internet explorer if that make any difference. Why can't I get in??? Please, please help. Thanks

I'd say that the link you saved was a page which would require log-in access. By going to it later you're trying to enter an area that can only be reached when you have signed in.

Now I am going to really get nervous. I tried to save a snipe with esnipe and after I entered my bid I got this message: " I eountered an unknown error. Please try again." What in the hell is up?????

The snipe gods are frowning on me big time!!!

Since they don't keep your password at the site, I think I expires after a week or so. So sometimes I have to enter my password and sometimes I don't. I have used this same link for the past few months with no problem.

I don't understand why their is now a problem.

I just manually typed in vrane.com and clicked on the link to sign in with my password and I got the same error message that said: Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /cgi-bin/s on this server.

eBay is down right now, perhaps that is where the problem lies...

Most snipe programs access ebaY to verify and record your intentions.

None are useful if eBay is d o w n at either placement time or bidding time.

Good luck to the early Proxy bidder......

mintleslie you must not be a seller. As a seller I love snipers.

TOOLHOUND WROTE, mintleslie you must not be a seller. As a seller I love snipers.

Must not be a buyer either. You can usually (not always) pay less for items by sniping them. By placing an early bid you not only up the the final price, but draw attention to the desired item.

Personally I prefer getting the items I want and paying the lowest amount possible. Call me crazy, but that's just me.

Cmbtboots,
sniping does not always keep the prices down.
Proxy, number of bidders, number of snipers...well I have seen stuff go for way over retail. And I also do see some bargains.
Mintleslie,
You sound like you have been out sniped on more than one occasion.
Oh well, that's the way of the world, the lay of the land, the cookie crumbling.
Deal, baby, deal.
I don't use vrane/esnipe or what ever.
I use the atomic clock method. So far I win all that I bid on unless the proxy is to high. Then I tip my hat to the fellow and am off to greener pastures. I feel bad for the guy who would pay more than me, but philisophically I know that they wouldn't bid what they weren't happy living with.
No flag no foul.

Capriole I didn't say always. AND I don't ever snipe more than I would be willing to pay. I just prefer not to tip my hand early in the game.

Good post, Capriole.

The same discussion is on the current esnipe thread.

Apparently somebody has gotten outsniped too many times. Life's tough all over eh?
