Somebody just notified me that the pictures aren't displaying in the one auction I happen to have running at the moment:

http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=537774615

I checked, and found that some images were displaying, while others weren't. I hit reload, and suddenly NONE would display. I hit reload again, and this time a different set displayed, but not others.

Anybody else use Geocities? Are you having problems with your images? Or is it just me?

Barry

your photos are displaying now

Geocities is one of the few free personel web host that allow you to to have graphics called and uploaded to other servers.

With yahoo looking to incress income I wouldnt be suprised to see them push fees from geocities soon for people who use this personel space to store grapics for use outside there website.

I came across an auction last night that was using pictures on Geocities - pretty much the same thing happened.

They're going to eventually enforce this clause, ya know: "You agree to not use the Service to: ... use your home page (or directory) as storage for remote loading ..."

Glenda: Actually, I primarily use my geocities account to display my pocket watch collection. And I'm having trouble with those pages as well. Sometimes the images won't display, sometimes the entire pages are listed as not existing. I haven't been able to find an "Announcement" page anywhere that might explain what is going on and how long it might last....

Hi Barry,
I just checked your auction and no pictures displayed. When I hit refresh a few at the bottom showed.

cariad: Thanks for checking.

*sigh*

I guess I picked a bad week to run a $1, no reserve auction....

Barry

I seem to see a lot of auctions with messed up geocity pics. Sometimes it's just incredibly slow loading, sometimes it's no picture at all. Not a great place to put pics, IMHO.

I had to right click on your pictures to see them at a quiet time this morning.

But, great pictures, BTW. What camera are you using?

Bill

Well, I've used Geocities for years [I have a lot of my personal pages there], and haven't had much problem in the past. Hopefully this is just a temporary glitch.

As for my pictures, I'm using my brand new Sony Mavica FD85, which I've talked about in other threads. I love being able to take pictures using just a desk lamp for illumination!

I too have been using Geocities for my FTP, and had the same problem of the images not showing up. I went to my index and the images would show up after hitting the reload button several times. Finally I ended up uploading to honesty and am having no problems. Hope Geocities gets this worked out as I have several websites with images from there.

It hasn't changed - I quoted from Geocities/Yahoo Terms of Use in my earlier message.

Did you have a webpage at Geocities, or were you using it only for photo hosting?

Revisited this thread and revisited your auction Barry. I hate to tell ya but not all of your pics are showing again and the text is over the main pic.

Cariad: Yeah, I noticed that happens when viewing the auction with Microsoft Internet Explorer. I have added duplicate pictures at the bottom which I have posted on a different server, but unfortunately I can't go back and edit the info that is already there....
