I have an International user from a good country with good feedback who wants to use Paypal for a $2500 purchase. Can this be done? In reading the Paypal agreement it looks like there is a $1000 limit per transaction/day. Anything else that I should be concerned about, or things that I can look for to make me feel more secure.

DON'T DO IT!

Have them use BidPay instead. Or at that price level, ask your bank about a wire transfer of US$ right into your account.

I'm with abacaxi... For that kind of money I'd go with BidPay. Assuming you made a good profit, maybe offer to knock $5 off the price to cover the BidPay fee charged to the buyer.

Paypals International buyers are unlimted

I sure would not do a deal for that much internationally thought for international buyers through paypal ever.

have them use bidpay for the deal if the buyer is a fraud you will know this before you ship your item once the Money order is in the bank and cash in your hand then ship.

Bidpay won't allow for that amount either.

"Currently BidPay does not allow for the purchase of auction items exceeding $500 and does not allow the purchase of multiple money orders for such transactions. Any such purchase attempts will be canceled and your orders will not be processed."

You should just say that you are sorry but none of the on-line payment services allows for that amount for a single purchase and they will have to send you a money order (probably many money oders as they have a $ cap on the amount too).

The $5 bidpay fee is the minimum. The actual fee is $5 on the first $100 and then 2.25% on the rest. The $2500 would cost $53. Paypal will charge him 2.3% conversion fee and charge you 2.2% for receiving it, so that total cost of the transaction is $100. You are better off trying to work it out with bidpay and splitting the cost or getting him to pay the maximum through bidpay and the balance thru paypal with non-credit card source.

How about BILLPOINT or MONEYZAP.COM?

Moneyzap is U.S. only. I dont know what Billpoint's limit is, but I did once make a purchase of about $1400 through Billpoint.

At this price level, I'd look into the bank wire transfer, rather than cobble together a payment through several payment services. See what the fees are for you & ask your buyer to check on the fees from their end.

Yisgood---Bidpay has a $500.00 maximum per auction and they don't allow for buying multiple money orders to pay for one auction.

Billpoint has a $2000.00 maximum

Zazzie: Bidpay may have a $500 figure on their web site. I do know that it's possible to get exceptions. I had a foreign buyer want to purchase a digital camera with some options. It wasn't on auction, it was directly from my site. Bidpay told us that I could post an auction for him to win and they could process the order, which was in excess of $600.
