Oh my God! This is 2 checks in the same week that people have bounced. I just got the notification in the mail!!!
Why do people do this and is not taking checks the only rectification?

Hi libby ~ coming from the #1 state for check fraud in the country (FL) and after 6 years of being a bank officer I would NEVER take a personal check. Not only can they "bounce" for over to 30 days, but did you know that a check can be "recalled" after it has been paid? It's kind of like disputing a charge on your credit card. I'd be happy to tell you all kinds of stories about "kiting" money, writing checks on closed accounts, even people making their own Money Orders and Cashiers Checks. Not to scare you, but if I send you a Cashiers Check from First Fedral of Florida would you know if it was real or even if there was such a bank? Don't lose sleep over it ~ each form of payment comes with it's own risk. If we weren't gamblers, we wouldn't be auction addicts )

In my auctions I never check the box that says I will accept personal checks, here is a copy of what I send to people who have been on eBay for awhile, and have built up good feedback:
