Dear VeryModern:
I was in the process of writing this little bit of deathless prose when you decided to close the thread. I COULDN'T just throw it away - it took 20 minutes to write!! - violet9
Thanks very much for your welcome - I really appreciate it. I completely support your feelings and decision in this matter. Since you have had such a strong emotional reaction to the situation, you have every right and responsibility to go with your feelings.
If it were me (and I may naturally have a higher threshold for this sort of situation than you do) and she persists, I might consider telling her that if she is genuinely contrite, she could donate the money to charity and send me a receipt - but that regardless, I will not intercede for her with eBay. If she were really sincere, she would make amends without expectation of the "reward" of your contacting eBay in her behalf.
But whether or not I would do such a thing would depend on my mood, my workload and other responsibilities, and how wronged I had felt in the first place. I have been stiffed a lot from NPBs in the last few months - I went a year and a half with not a single bounced check or NPB then all of a sudden, I have had a dozen or more - can't figure it out unless statistically, it was just my turn. Late payers wreak havoc with my organizational system too - there is only one of me, and I have enough trouble keeping up when everything runs smoothly. Lately I have not even bothered to email NPBs asking when to expect payment - I just file for my fees with eBay and get on with it - it takes up too much of my precious packing/listing time. This has resulted in some PATHOLOGICALLY nasty emails from the NPBs but that is what the DELETE key is for, isn't it? And if they finally do pay, I ship their stuff last, after I have taken care of all my promptly paying customers. This garners further protests from the dears, sometimes, and my feedback rating may eventually feel it, but I am guarding my energy more and more as I try to increase my volume on eBay. (Not that you can tell when I waste time writing novellas on the Boards!)
So I understand your need to conserve your own energy and not get bogged down in someone else's psycho-drama. Good luck and thanks again for your kind welcome.
