I bought a Bicycle this morning. It is red and white with lights on the front. It has a big W on the front as well. It has Penneys on it also. It has spyder type handle bars but has the place on the back where a person can ride. It is spiffy red and white like the Western Flyers. It is definatly 50's. It is a boys bike. Does anyone happen to know what year or what brand name it is? I would post a picture but I am not sure how.

Sounds like your answering part of your own question as to brand name when you say Western flyer it also has penneys name on it so it was made for penneys.

I had a western flyer when I was a kid got it in the late 60s like between 67 and 69 only mine was bought at National auto parts association more well known as NAPA today.

Western flyer made bicycles for many different companies Im not a real vintage bicycle buff But I did ride a few vintage bicycle that werent vintage at the time.

I believe western flyer is still around today makeing them classic red wagons we all loved as kids as well.

maybe they have a web site where you might be able to Identify or email asking about it.

The red and white color you describe here screams 60s earily 70s.

Thanks for your advice. The more I look at it I think you are right. It looks like a cross between a 50's Western Flyer and the Spyder bikes that came out. It still big and bulky but has the spyder handlebars. Thanks for your info.

I am just guessing here, but from my LONG experience with bikes, if it has "Spyder" handle bars, it is from the mid to late 60's...
I got my first one in 1966, and it had Spider bars, a Cheetah Slick, Front Brake, and a Sissy Bar...
