I've been selling on ebay for about 3 years, and yesterday I bought a 1984 Southwind motorhome (great cond & great deal) for buying forays. Does anyone know if it needs fuel additive or can it run on unleaded gasoline. Any info is appreciated.

It didn't come with a manual. I'm trying figure out how everything works. So far, so good, but I need to buy fuel and don't want to blow the engine.

Look at the GAS input! They are diferent sizes.

If it's the skinny one, it takes unleaded.

If it's the fat one, it takes regular and probably needs some additive.

The gas "hole" is large, so I guess I need to put some additive. Thanks for your input.

Chances are if it's a 1984 model, it uses unleaded. Most vehicles produced after 1976 take unleaded fuel. (with very few exceptions)

I suggest tomorrow, you call an RV dealer, or a car dealership. I'm not sure what kind of drivetrain it has, but it's likely either Ford, Chrysler or GM, so call one of those dealers.

Hopefully you don't need gas tonight.

The engine is a Chevy 454. I'm not gassing up tonight, and I knew I'd get some good info from this board. I guess I'll make some calls tomorrow before filling up. I wanted to go to go to Alabama tomorrow, and might go on if I figure this out. I logged on to the Southwind homepage and asked them to tell me -- so far, no reply.

Or you could simply call the party you bought it from.

I kinda thought that economy was important. If I had to feed a heavy vehicle with a Chevy 454 while I was out tracking down deals I wouldn't be in business for long.

Good luck to you.
