Hi
I sell on ebay, half com and amazon marketplace/z shops. When I have a unusual or rare record it goes to ebay, which is good. But I have around 10000 relatively common records. [vinyl lps] and such that I want to sell for $2 to $10 each. I looked into this musicopoly but thier are no bids. Does any one of my fellow ebayers know of either a auction site or set sale site where there is any buying action where I can sell these. There must be a site or selling venue for this specialty somewhere. If anyone can help me with this it would be deeply appreciated.
thanks .By the way my name is Don

I wonder what happened? I sold at least 300 LPs on eBay so far--most about a year ago--very successfully. Some LPs went over $35.

Retro, I can't help you with the "common" LPs, but for the rare ones, you might consider Audiogon.com. They are an online auction/classified site for high-end audioholics and rare LPs are much sought after. Classical and jazz from the late 50s through the mid-60s are particularly sought after.

Just wanted to keep track of this interesting thread- my husband has 1000's of LP's and loads of
audiophile equipment and I've been looking for the best place to sell some. Will check out Audiogon.com- thanks...
Pre- internet days, he ran ads in magazines and sent off record lists around the world- worked out really well! There must be a premier website for these audiophiles!!!
By the way- anyone been watching the JAZZ documentary on PBS??? GREAT!

I have a TON of LP's, (haven't listed any lately) and have had pretty good luck starting the bids at $.99...of course, I bought all of thes records in box lots for $2-$3, so if I get a few off my hands it helps clean the house!
Even with the "rare" LP's, I have had pretty good luck with this technique...some have gone to around $20 (usual selling price for the item).
I recently started doing this with some of my other items too....If it has been listed a couple of times with no bids, I start it at $.99, and hope for the best. I may NOT be getting "full value" for the item (ie: what I paid), but it isn't making me any money sitting in the "eBay Room" collecting dust and taking up space!

Mom, Audiogon selling prices typically bring about 20-30% more than eBay. I found this out the hard way after selling two high-end turntables on eBay. I figured the increased market size of eBay would be better, but identical items sold at Audiogon for signficantly more money. The buyers, and sellers, at Audiogon know the value of what they're selling and aren't just out to find a steal. The LP market at Audiogon is pretty small, but I see no reason why it can't be beefed up. I think it's mostly because the sellers there just sell a few things a year and aren't into the internet selling venue.

Iswanson I looked Audiogon over and it is perfect. Can't wait to show it to my husband (and hopefully he won't BUY any more!!) Already saw some speakers on the "wanted" page that he has...(that cost over $800 to repair when our Great Dane knocked one over-lol- not really that funny, actually!) Audiophiles are an amazing lot - the geeks of stereo--but it is a treat to sit in the "sweet spot" when everything is tweeked up and be carried away by Billie Holiday, for example.
It seems like the LPs are sold withOUT photos...which would be easier to list.
Thanks again for the tip!

Mom, careful what you say about audio geeks, I are one.

You can post pictures at Audiogon. I don't know why more people don't. Two other sites that you hubby would like are Audioshopper and Audioweb. 'Shopper offers classifieds only (I think) and 'Web has it all. Years ago, when this all got started, Audioshopper was by far the best, but Audiogon blew past them about 18 mos. ago.

And sorry. A lot of people love Billie Holiday but I couldn't get past the voice. I 'll try again though. My fave female vocalist is Ella Fitzgerald--vocal chords made of pure honey.
