OK, I am royally ticked off right now.

Auction just ended 1/10. Immediately sent him an EOA email.

No response until today, and all it says is:

sorry I only do Paypal

I DO NOT ACCEPT PAYPAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I accept 10 other methods of payment.

He has 4 feedbacks. 2 NEGS for non-payment.

Between this and the news that Ebay is raising our rates this is NOT one of my better days.

rxo: Oh, please - say it aint so! I surely hope not. But then again I wouldn't know where he's from because the only email he's sent me is this one only saying "sorry I only do paypal". (and of course, 6 days after the auction ended).

I have had this happen to me four times now !! I tell them: "sorry I do not take pay pal, that is why it is not mentioned in any way in any of my auctions" so far only one refused to pay.
So then I added in all my auctions, I DO NOT ACCEPT PAY PAL, but do take Visa, Mastercard, the DiscoverCard, Money orders Cashiers checks, American Express.
Now i get people who ask if I take Bidpay!!
Unbelieveable !!

soldbyj: I [i]used[/b] to put "SORRY I DO NOT ACCEPT PAYPAL[/b] in my auctions but then I had even MORE requests to pay with paypal (I guess it was confusing for those who don't read words and only look at pictures). So I took it out. Now, instead of getting all those requests "do you take paypal" I just get the "YOU'VE GOT CASH" emails every day from Paypal!!!!

You just can't win.

Make sure yu ask for you end of auction fees back this only has to happen 3 times until the buyer is suspended from ebay. I know they can find another way to open an account but give them a little hassle also by getting your end of auction fees back.

This is so amazing. I am going through the same thing right now with a buyer. The auction ended 12/15 and I sent my EOA. I received an e-mail back stating that he only paid with Paypal. I wrote him saying I do not take Paypal and to send either a check or money order. He informed me the only possible way he would pay that way was if I sent him the item first. We had several e-mails back and forward and could not resolve it. I just got tired of it and put it aside. Yesterday I wrote him saying I was going to relist and leave appropriate feedback. He e-mails me he had never received my Paypal invoice. I FEEL LIKE I"M GOING CRAZY!! I wrote him again explaining how he needs to send me payment first. He writes back he will pay when he gets the invoice! I just wrote him again with all the info and told him I was not going to correspond anymore. This is a 4.00 item. I've had it with the time it takes with these deadbeats.

ExecutiveGirl, There was a thread a while back (maybe as far as summer) that had paypal with a red cirle around it and a line drawn through it like the no smoking signs. This is what you need for your auction page, maybe bidders would recognize this international symbol for "no." Wish I could find the thread for you, but so far, no luck.

Wow, I don't know what your problem is! I just got back from my local WalMart, where after filling my shopping basket and letting the cashier ring up my entire purchase, I proudly proclaimed that I only pay for purchases in magical beans. You know, the kind that Jack grew his beanstalk from. Well, sure enough, the cashier gave me a hard time. We even had to call the manager over. Then they called the police...!

Just kidding. I really really really hate it when bidders can't/don't read the auction terms. I guess all you can do is file for a FVF credit and leave a neg. I hope your weeks gets better.

Oh execgirl, I had high hopes that this would be your week and no one would send you the dreaded "do you take paypal?" email....
Guess I had it half right. He didn't email you and ask you-he TOLD you! It's going to get to were you are almost afraid to check your emails for fear of the dreaded paypal question you seem to always get. Most people dread the annoying spam emails.
I know, give me your email addy and I will start a new trend for you. I will email you and ask "Do you take money orders?"
Think that will work?
I say email him once that you don't take paypal, give him another day or two if your feeling nice, then start filing for your fees. I just don't understand what is it with these people???

richeddy - that's tooooo funny!

ExecutiveGirl, When you get the "You've got cash" emails from PayPal, is that to your registered email address with them, or do you get the same email whether or not you're registered?

Before I took PayPal, occasionally someone would put a payment through, despite the fact I wasn't registered, and I don't recall getting the "You've got cash" emails (until I registered my email address with them).

I'm sure there's a good reason why you haven't done this, (or maybe you already have), but unregister your email address with PayPal. Forgive me if I'm being naïve, but this sounded like a logical idea, but then again, I don't a lot about PayPal. I've only been accepting it for 2 or 3 months.

For some reason people understood the message "I do not accept PayPal" better than they understood "I do not accept checks". Maybe they would notice I wasn't registered and decide to cancell the transcation. Incidentally, now that I accept it, about half my payments come in by PayPal.

BTW: I took someone's advice on subliminal messages. Here's how my EOA looks like:

My Name (NO CHECKS! Please)
123 XXX Street (INTERNATIONAL money oders only)
City, etc.xxx.....

I decided not to embed it into my address or some moronic idiots would think I live on a street called "NO CHECKS" and address the envelope that way, or would email me to ask what my address is.

Just tell your bidder who only wants to pay with PayPal that they can run right over to the Energy Flow website and pay you with their PayPal money (at least that is what the website said last time I looked at it!). The buyer will have to pay a fee to pay you with their PayPal money there, but it is my understanding that Energy Flow will send you a money order and you don't even have to sign up with them, pay them a fee, give them a credit card or bank account number.

I've never used them but the concept looked interesting to me. Has anyone tried Energy Flow?

Executive Girl

I love your threads and always look out for them. They are always interesting and provoke much debate.

I'm not sure how to post a link on here but I have have a little sign I post on my auctions to indicate that I don't take Paypal, you are welcome to copy and use it:

The reason I don't use Paypal is that many UK users haven't been able to get their credit cards verified because Paypal couldn't get their act together and post the right activation codes on our CC statements. Having read many posts on here about scams, fees, etc. I'm thinking I am probably better off without it. Unusually for a UK seller I can take checks with no added fee because I have a US $ bank account. I also take M.O.s, CCs and cash. I can even give small change in mint US stamps!!

EG, do you ever get to thinking that you maybe have a sign on your head saying 'Are you inpatient, inflexible and just plain stupid? Then please bid on my auctions!!' Because right now I am feeling loads of sympathy for you. In terms of buyers you seem to attract an awful lot of dog poop. BTW, in reference to your other thread....

Did it come yet? Did it come yet? Did you neg him? Did you neg him?

Even if you are not registered you will get the "you've got cash!" email........remember that is how they get more little paypalers......its parts of the refferal bonus program.

If you aren't registered then there is a nice little link in the email to the sign up page lol

And no bidder can say they ONLY PAY WITH PAYPAL!! I mean WTF???

I work in restaurants..........half of the ones I worked in don't take discover.....and of course every now and then a guest will slip a discover card in the black book and of course I have to take it back and say I'm sorry sir BUT........I have never had one of them INSIST they pay with Discover.....we just don't F****ing take Discover what can they do ??

BTW My sign is the same as furkidmom's above except that it doesn't say 'X.com' and the Paypal bit is much larger. Also my sign says 'NO' in large red letters across it instead of the forbidden (verboten?) sign.

Maybe you could use BOTH our signs...that way buyers would sure get the message!!

Wow, I can't believe all the posts on this thread this morning! Thanks everyone for your suggestions!

Richeddy: LOL!! That is cute! But please.... don't give my bidders any ideas... next they will be telling me "I plan to pay with magical beans..." ... oh dear, I can actually vision this already....

furkidmom and fallen_madonna: Thanks for the No-Paypal logos. Do they actually work though? I took all icons out of my auctions - even for the payments I do accept. (Just because I think it looks neater). I was also told that having ANY kind of Paypal sign (even a non-paypal) will still confuse bidders and they will think you DO accept paypal. (They just see the PAYPAL sign, not the red line & circle through it - go figure ). So tell me - does it actually work?? (I'll try anything!!)

cajunat: I did email him immediately last night, telling him I don't accept paypal and he should read the other 10 methods of payment I accept and pay with one of those. No response so far... big surprise...

tomwiii: I know it's hard to understand. But NO!! I DON'T ACCEPT PAYPAL!!

debbielennon: You're right. I've been thinking of changing my Ebay ID to: MORON-MAGNET What do ya think?

motiv8: The email address my bidders send their Paypal payments to - is NOT registered through Paypal. So when they email me a payment, they already know on their end that I'm "unverified" and don't have an account with that email address. And the emails I get, say "you've got cash! Click here to register with Paypal so you can claim your money".... so this just goes to prove, even if you don't have an account the customers STILL send you payments with Paypal.

paintpower: I'm not familiar with EnergyFlow.. but will have to look in to that. Thanks!

fallen_madonna: I'm glad you like my threads! These are not made up though, unfortunately these are my real life experiences! Sometimes I'm amazed myself at all the knuckleheads I have to deal with. And as far as my other thread - no, payment didn't come yet, and I haven't negged him yet but in a few days I will!

1) File your NPB

2) 10 days later, file your FVF credit

3) NEG bidder

If you do this in that order, the NEG count toward bidder's dismissal.

hey Shosh ~ I did it in that order and the FVF NRU'ed the deadbeat ~ I didn't have a chance to neg him and, as Arnold would say, "He'll Be Back". I think you need to leave the neg before you file the FVF ~ any feedback out there???
