Hi Y'all. I've got a question that I could really use an answer to. I paid the $40 or so for the ebud program many months ago, but could only use it to see what the bid totals were, because of some "MAPI" email problem due to my ISP. In other words, I've been sending my end of auction e-mails to bidders manually for ages, and it's REALLY taking way too much time now.
I remember reading about some type of method using Outlook Express that allows a non-Mapi Isp users (like Aol) to send email through ebud after all.
But my question is, do I absolutely have to get another e-mail address to pull this off correctly? I've been using my ebay e-mail address for a very long time and don't want
the upheaval. Plus, I have so many outstanding questions & payment communications from buyers that I don't dare
switch e-mail addresses right now.
So in a nutshell, I want to finally use my ebud program to send EOA e-mails, but can't
so far because of my ISP's "Mapi" limitations. I'd be glad to try the Outlook
Express technique that I've read about, but
I want to use my non-mapi ebay e-mail address
that I'm known by. I'd hate to switch to some kind of hotmail e-mail address this late in the game.
ANY help or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Blackjack21

Go to the Ebud software website and post a help on the help page. They usually get back to you very quickly. I also think there's some information on that website about configuring your email program. I know I had to do some tweaking to get mine to work right when I started using Ebud. Works just fine now. Saves a lot of time.

I swear by Ebud and could not run the auction I do without it. I use AOL and had to get a hotmail email address and use outlook to handle the mail. I was able to get a hotmail email address with the same first name as my AOL and seller ID that I use now. For example [email protected] and [email protected]. You can also set up in hotmail for replies to the hotmail email address to go to your old email address. Try it you'll like it!!

Hi again, everybody. I just want to thank those that responded for their time and ideas. I've contacted ebud tech reps, and they've given me some tips which I've followed unsuccessfully so far. Although I opened up a new hotmail account and configured Outlook Express with it, my ebud
program *still* refuses to send end of auction emails due to a "Mapi" error. I've checked the hotmail address, and it sends &
receives email perfectly when used through Outlook Express. I can't even find the part in ebud where I put in my new hotmail e-address, if such a spot exists. I have no idea how the ebud program is supposed to
somehow know that it will now be emailing through Outlook Express using a hotmail account.
I just don't get it, but I'm still working
on it. Wish me luck, okay? I definitely don't want to give up on ebud just yet, considering the money I spent on it and the time I could potentially save emailing people if I could just get ebud working correctly.

I'm not familiar with eBud at all, but I had MAPI problems with my telephony software. Turns out the new version of IE I was using conflicted. I went to the Add/Remove programs in my Control Panel and selected Internet Explorer. When I clicked "Remove", it gave me an option to restore my previous version of IE. Works fine now. Just a thought, but be careful if you're not sure what you're doing.
