I won an auction on Sunday for a DVD under my other eBay user name. It is now Thursday and I have not heard from the seller regarding payment, information, nothing. I zapped off a quick email on Tuesday about it but still have heard nothing.

Am I still under obligation to purchase this since it's been past 3 days or should I give it another day? I don't believe that I've ever run into this

Hello Libby,

eBay suggests three business days for seller and buyer to contact each other.

Monday was a holiday. So today is the third day. After today I would agree that you are no longer under any obligation to complete the transaction.

But why are you in such a hurry to possibly not get the item you wanted badly enough to bid on just a few days ago?

Um I DO want it that is why I bid on it. If I'm not under obligation for this other person anymore I will bid on it elsewhere that takes PayPal, pay for it tonight and be done with it.

I would try emailing the seller again, they may have a family emergency or some other reason beyond their control - like illness, accident, etc. Sometimes life just throws us surprises that make it impossible to keep up with responsibilities. If this seller is reputable I would be patient before bidding for an identical one.

Same thing happened to me. See:

I still haven't decided whether or not to neg and if I do--how long I will wait.

The item I won was an old collectible not readily found so I don't have the option of just bidding on another one from another seller.

At this point though, I wouldn't send a penny to a seller who obviously doesn't want to sell.

Kind of took the fun out of shopping on eBay for me. After winning an auction, I always kind of figured I'd get to buy the item for my winning bid.
