I shipped a CD to a buyer on December 30th. She emailed me on January 17th to tell me she hadn't gotten it. She was very nice about it. I got Delivery confirmation on the package, and the USPS site says that I did indeed ship the package on December 30th, but of course, nothing else. I sent the package bookrate, how long should I wait before I start worrying? If it never gets there, I will give a refund, but I just wanted to know how long I should wait.

"Media Mail (Book Rate)
Generally used for books (at least eight pages), film (16 mm or narrower), printed music, printed test materials, sound recordings, play scripts, printed educational charts, loose-leaf pages and binders consisting of medical information, and computer-readable media. Advertising restrictions apply. "

When I went through this last fall, I was told by my local PO that they would not permit or do any sort of tracking or trace until 30 days had passed. I had to tell this to a few customers, and in each case the book arrived before that time, so I haven't actually been through that process yet.

I've had lots of trouble with bookrate lately. I have one that has been well over 30 days and two more approaching that mark.
I offer refunds after 30 days and file a "lost mail" report with the post office. And yes, CD's qualify for bookrate, they always have to the best of my knowledge.

A book I bought on ebay took a full month to get to me. The seller warned me this might happen so I wasn't too worried about it. Book rate is cheap and you get what you pay for.
