Hello. I've got a question for all the veteran sellers (or even collectors ) of toys and boxed toy items. Although I've seen ebay listings that said "toy X is MIB, the box is in c-9 condition, etc", I don't quite understand the meanings of these toy grading methods.

I now have a vintage boxed color by numbers type item that still has it's original shrinkwrap on it, and could really use some tips on how to best decribe it accurately before I go and list it on ebay.

Does anyone know where I may find a FAQ or a website that can give me the beginner tips to start grading toys like this? It would be much appreciated, and thanks in advance.

This might help you get started.

10=Mint. Unused store stock
9=Near Mint. Minor shelf wear.
8=Excellent. Still full luster with no major defects.
7=Fine. Slightly above average. May have wear or defect, but still nice.
6=Very Good. Average only. Used, but not worn out. Okay for display.
5=Good. Below average. Still displayable.
4=Fair. Rough. A filler until you can find a better one.

Oh yea, I'll explain the other abbreviations too.

MIB= Mint In Box. Toy is unplayed with, includes all accessories. Box can be perfect or can be damaged. Some collectors may open the box and toss it out so box condition is unimportant.

MOC= Same as above except toy is on a card, not a box.

MOMC=Mint on Mint Card. Both Toy and Card are perfect. No shelf wear, no dents on bubble.

Thanks very much to those that responded. Your excellent advice will go a long way, and now I can be sure any future top bidder for this item will get an accurate grade for their future item's condition. I appreciate the favor very much, and I've saved the terms used to a file on my hard drive for any future reference that may come up. Obviously, toys are not my ebay specialty, but your help has gone a long way in possibly changing that in the near future.

Thank you.
