I'm thinking about creating an information product I had an idea for... But before I spend weeks (or months) creating this product I'd like to test it out on eBay to see what type of bid it will bring in.
I'd like to know what you think about writing a sales letter for the product (before it's finished), and then putting up a reserve price auction at a price I know will NOT be met, so I can see how high the bid goes...
Is that "ethical"? Or should I put up a "pre-order" auction instead? Or do you have any other, better ideas for product testing?
If I find that my product (idea) doesn't get ANY bids, or doesn't go for a price that makes creating the product worthwhile, I won't bother wasting my time creating it!

Lufkin ...
Marvelous idea! You will list a product that does not exist with a reserve price no one will want to pay and base your development and production strategy based on how many suckers take the bait.

Lufkin, I've read a couple of your posts and with all the energy you expend in trying to beat the system or bend the rules you are not gonna last long in this venue. I am closely related to someone like you and I get to visit them once a month in a very unpleasant place.

Those who attempt to "beat the system" may win for a short time but in the end WILL become the big losers...
The way to "beat the system" is to learn how to play inside the system and use every option available to your utmost advantage.
After all, part of the art of selling is a numbers game...and understanding how to play that game.
