I am fed up--but I'm not sure who with!?!(postal service or the buyer).
I have had 5 uninsured items get "lost" in a month. I had to give refunds to avoid negs yet I get a neutral from one bidder who thought I never shipped the item. I just called the p.o who told me I cannot put delivery conf. on first class mail only priority.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Don't mind me......I'm just venting.
First, go to your local USPS, and request 5 of their LOST MAIL Forms.
You may file such a form for ANYTHING you ever mail which doesn't reach the destination --- you do NOT need to have paid for either insurance or for delivery confirmation.
To fill out the forms, you must have FULL details about the shipment.
What was the date it was mailed?
Address of post office shipped from.
Contents of package.
ETC. ETC. ETC. (i.e, "everything about the package.)
It is very possible that your package is at one of the three national LOST MAIL // DEAD LETTER CENTERS.
Whenever I've filed these forms, the parcels have been immediately located and show up at the customers' doorsteps within 48 hours.
ALSO ....... if the post office cannot locate the parcel, they will ask the mailperson who is on the delivery route if they remember delivering the package. Mail deliverers actually DO remember exact dates they delivered parcels!

Unfortunately I already sent out 4 of them....but I will keep that in mind for the future. I know the p.o loses stuff but 5 in a month is alot even for them.
Thanks

zkatt, I don't understand. I put delivery confirmation on 1st class, parcel post, priority, media mail. They have never refused it at my PO. Where are you located by the way? I've had one stuck in the southern part of Ohio for over a week now.

It's your own fault for not requiring insurance. DO NOT offer it, QUOTE IT AUTOMATICALLY ON E V E R Y AUCTION.
SAY IT OVER AND OVER:
INSURANCE IS NOT OPTIONAL.
INSURANCE IS NOT OPTIONAL.
INSURANCE IS NOT OPTIONAL.
INSURANCE IS NOT OPTIONAL.
INSURANCE IS NOT OPTIONAL.
INSURANCE IS NOT OPTIONAL.
INSURANCE IS NOT OPTIONAL.
INSURANCE IS NOT OPTIONAL.

I too put delivery confirmation on all my packages also. The post office has never said I couldn't do this either. I would question the post office, cause I know the rate is different from priority then the others, it is a little cheaper then say, parcel post! You might want to ask them.

We include insurance on every item we ship Priority (about 85%). It is automatically included in the shipping cost. For every small, inexpensive item that we ship first class I get a CERIFICATE OF MAILING from USPS - it costs 75 cents, but is proof that you mailed it. I have been told that you can not do Delivery Confirmation for first class mail. The CERTIFICATE OF MAILING seems like a pretty sensible solution for small items.

I've refunded and replaced for items that were sent and never arrived.
I'll remember the above suggestion about
the lost mail...
I also, since, have been checking out the USPS ebay auctions..........................
hmmmmmm
Interesting, as I see a lot of their items up for auction, such as the same thing, in different sizes, like had been ordered from a catalog , you would think that inside the box their is an
invoice of some kind? I put one in each of mine.
