I am totaly confused. I never gave much thought about bidders bidding with o to little feedback until I started reading threads here. I now have 3 auctions that currently have bidders with 0's next to their names, but no glasses. Two of these auctions, the bids are quite a bit higher than what they normally go for. Believe me, I am not complaining, but I thought new bidders get sunglasses, One of the bidders
has another name with a Yahoo email. Do you think this should give me any reason to be concerned, about the legitamacy of these bids. The 2 high bids end tonight. I have been selling on ebay now for about 6 mos. Discovered this thread a while ago, and boy has it helped. Thanks, everyone.

Hope this helps. Here is the Ebay version:
Administration : User IDs : What does the "Shades" icon mean?
Whenever a member chooses a User ID, whether or not they are new to eBay, the shades icon will appear next to their User ID. The shades icon behind a User ID signifies that the member has changed his/her User ID within the last 30 days. This icon will appear after a User ID for 30 days following a successful change in User ID.
A new member will also receive the shades icon if they selected a User ID, or placed their email address in the User ID field upon registering with eBay. Please remember, having the shades icon next to a User ID is not a negative distinction. The shades icon merely signifies that a User ID was either chosen for the first time or changed within the past 30 days.
Clicking on the "shades" icon next to a member's User ID, or the User ID itself, will reveal that member's email address and User ID history at eBay.

I've sold a number of items to new buyers. The most recent went for $9,950.00. I met the shaded, o feedback bidder two days later when he handed me a cashier's check while picking up his purchase. I look at those shades and 0 feedbacks as new customers. I've been stung more by buyers with over 1,000 positive feedbacks who can dream up every excuse in the book not to follow through on their bid. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Everyone who bids on eBay begins with those shades. Good luck.

Here is something to consider...
I have been buying and selling on ebay for more than 3 years with the same user id and high feedback.
I just got a second id because for quite a while I have found that there are a few other people who are bidding on the same items only after I bid. I suspect they are watching my bidding list. I don't mind the bidding competition. But I can spend hours plowing though the auction listing to find the specialized items that I buy. I am tired of doing the research for these lazy people.
I am tired of having to make sure I am around to snipe something at the end of the auction for something I really want to make sure it isn't on my bidder list until it is too late for these people to bid against me.
Anyway, I have a new id with zero feedback but I am not new. So you never know....
