While still reeling from ebud totally messing up my records, I'm in search of a reliable listing/auction management program (is that oxymoronic???).
Andale totally confuses me (I'm not very computer literate) and actually several others I've looked at don't seem to be user-friendly at all either.
I really need a bulk relisting tool if possible also.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

To list my auctions I use AuctionPoster, and to track my sales, send emails, etc - I use AuctionTrakker. They both work very well.

You can try AW's Auction Manager, which is pretty popular among posters here, and it's free! Click on the Auction Manager tab at the top of the screen.

You can read reviews of the other popular web-based auction management systems here:

http://www.auctionusers.org/eval/wbams.shtml

OAUA will be reviewing PC-based auction management systems (like Auctiva's e-Bud/e-Poster, Invenna's Auction Amigo Pro, and Blackthorne's Auction Assistant Pro) in the next few months.

I have deleted your post because it contained a link to a competitive service It is OK to discuss in a non-promotional manner other sites and services but links and URLs are prohibited by the Community Guidelines.

MichelleG The only problem is, that it was NOT a competing service. It is a piece of software. It is not an online web auction service.

Does this mean I cannot post a link to Microsoft if I use Excel to track my auctions?

Hello Greg,

There are aspects of the service you linked that have been deemed as "competitive" by AW's Administration. You are welcome to email [email protected] for further clarification.

As I have mentioned in my last post, you are welcome to discuss the service - it is the link or URL that is not permitted under the CGs.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I am looking at several different options and if I find anything that works well, I'll post it.

I too, amongst others, are having a lot of grief with ebud- there is another thread in here started by donnainpa, I think, about ebud problems. I'm really tired or I would look it up for you.

I'm trying out Auctionamigo. I won't use an online tool-my preference. It is put out by invenna and you will have to add the www and the com to that to get the web link because if I do it, they might delete my post. They give you a 30 day trial-so far it looks pretty good.

Gotta look at those FTC rules again...

I use AuctionTamer for my post-sale management and can't say enough good things about it!

It's not web-based, so you don't have to depend on a web site being up and running to use it. Also, and I apologize if this is no longer the case with AW, you don't have to keep checking into a web site to see how/if your customers responded. All email comes directly to you through your own email program (for me it's Outlook).

There is a one-time charge of $19.95 which is well worth it. All software updates are free and that's the truth as mine has been updated 3 times since August. They are excellent at incorporating new features as the auction sites implement them.

They don't do listing though, so I'm afraid I can't help much there.

Maybe I can...

Honestly, this is no joke, if it's available in your area, get cable. I've had it for a month and my sales have more than doubled. Prices are coming down. They lowered the monthly charge before we even got our first bill!

Then you won't need listing software!

BJGrolle:

THanks for the tip on Cable & the software... Cable prices here are outrageous (they make you pay $300 for a modem & $69/mo for service..YIKES)... Getting DSL installed on the 13th of Feb (I hope).. Waited a LONG time for it to become available here... Qwest gives you the free modem.. so..

Anyways..Thank

I second Auction Tamer! I love it! The more I use it, the more feature rich it becomes (only because I learn to use more of the excellent features!) in fact, I am browsing through AT right now in one of my tabs.

It did take a bit to learn to use it, but so did Ebud. I don't think the learning curve is any greater with AT than Ebud though.

I am waiting for them to give us some more auction sites.

I purchased them chiefly for Yahoo (don't EVEN get me started there!) and since Ebud will begin charging the accounts that were grandfathered in about 2002, I wanted an alternative. I checked out Auction Amigo and a few others, but I liked AT the best. Great support too!

jhf2662,

You're very welcome!

Good luck with your DSL. Let us all know how much more productive it makes you!

labbie1,

And I figure that since we've taken the time to set up templates in AuctionTamer, it'll be a fairly simple matter to copy and paste those same templates in an email and copy and paste the approprite info. in place of the tags. Kind of like what I used to do in Word until I got AuctionTamer.

edited to add: copy and paste was meant as a means of using AT templates to send emails for the sites they don't currently support.

True true, but it would be very nice if they would set up some more auction sites for us--like epier, bidville, bidbay, etc. so that we can have some more options again. I am sure they are working on it though.

It's so darn nice having AT check all of your auctions on all of the sites! I am spoiled!

Hi labbie1,

Thanks for the great comments and also thank you BJGrolle for your comments.

labbie1, in the latest version of AuctionTamer we added the Buyer features for DutchBid, BidBay and ABIDON. To select one of these sites go into Preferences and select it under Choose One.

We also developed what we call CASGI which is short for Common Auction Site Gateway Interface. This allows other auction sites to easily make their site compatible with AuctionTamer, so now it is up to them. When a auction site uses CASGI it also will support all the Seller features in AuctionTamer.

So far the first site to make their site CASGI compatible is Pootah.com. You can select them in Preferences.

Thanks again,

Mike Potter

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the great info! I guess I will have to try pootah (though the name makes me cringe ).

In other words, if there is a site at which we would like to sell and which is not supported at this time by AT, we can contact the support at the auction site and request that they become CASGI compliant.

I can do that! Thanks Mike!

Hi! I use auctionmate, which is a software program that you can list, track your auctions, generates EOA notices (which you can personalize), generates shipping notices, tracks payments, has a feedback tool, and generates reports on your sales. It is not perfect, and has a few annoying glitches, but the customer support is really quick and upgrades are free. It's pretty cheap (around $25). It has served me pretty well, and I think it's worth checking out. Good luck!

Martiniswiller (not my name on eBay)
